yep and the sensor I will assume is a rather sensitive one.
I'm actually interested to know whats used. For some reason I wouldn't doubt an op amp is in it.
I know when it comes to instrumentation a lot of manufactures here have moved away from using voltage as the signal and use amps.
all ours use the 0-20mA. since it doesn't get as much interference

You have the right idea, and I am sure Toyota, at least for minor cosmic/gamma/microwave potentials, is putting a lot of money into this research. Unfortunately, a lot of the electromagnetics researchers can not get things done if it is not solving a math equation. EM is tough science, and we are really only scratching the surface in today's science.

I haven't seen the latest tech, but I think redundant, opposed, analog Hall effect sensing was used previously. Some dummies used potentiometers. You are right, though, current signaling is much more noise resistant. Another issue is: small processes, like the transistors in an MCU, need to be protected from short wavelength signals imposing potential differences in the transistors, hence, potentially flipping a bit, and corrupting the information.

This ridgeline guy is an idiot. He has a few legit complaints, but a lot of it is ticky tack stuff that he will never be happy with. I have had customers like this before. Sometimes you have to fire a customer.

They went to NASA with their pedal issue years ago. This is beyond chat room discussion. We can talk about tin crystal formations, EMI, etc, but it does nothing but add confusion and posters who cry lemon again.
Seriously doubt if it is high rf spectrum interference, if it is even an issue at all.

You have some already. You just didn't know it. They are hidden in your consumer products. They are called sensormatic tags.

Agreed. Now I hear microwave radiation is impacting acceleration.:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

This is nothing short of f**** hilarious.

I was one of the researchers. While not all, Some people are interested in the reasons there are lags in rapid throttle rate acceleration. I filled in some blanks to help the OP and a few others understand the back story.

I used to spin wrenches and develop engine management strategies. I came real close to working for Ford R&D. I built a supercharged, 700 Hp Mustang that got 29 MPG on the Highway running on gas, water, and alcohol. One of the Ford Racing guys I knew wanted me on the Eco-Boost team, but I was deep in study at the time. I worked with one of them in the development of the modern 302 Boss. Now I work in global manufacturing of power tools and consumer electronics. None the less, I am well aware of the difficulty Toyota is having with maintaining their quality control. Things are moving and developing too fast. Time to market is too short for so many features and refined drivetrain specifications. This current scenario puts Toyota about 1-2 years behind on the current models (this doesn't just happen to Toyota), and they are using the consumers as the "use testers", which is not fair with the prices they are getting for their vehicles. Please note: This is a global product development problem. This is hitting every sector of global product development. The sad reality is 3rd gen Tacoma will not likely be right until 2018. Solution: They need to be pre-caching, developing, and testing platforms for the future... now; not 1 year before MP.

Perhaps a little of both. Some rapid throttle rate conditions may cause the computer to be overly cautious. The fix to the root cause is likely under study and development. Note; Toyota is not the only manufacturer dealing with this.
