    One was an auto and the other was a manual.

    The auto downshifts when you floor it at 50 to accelerate.

    They leave the manual in its current gear which is why it's so much slower.

    Pretty surprising when you think about it. Tacoma has the composite bed to save weight, and the frontier has a fully boxed frame, and is still a little lighter.

    I had a fronty pro 4x before I bought my '13 OR. The taco is definitely slower, but I didn't buy it to go fast, and I can still get speeding tickets with it. And as much as I dislike the 3rd gen, I'd take it over a frontier any day
