Post a pic of the switch you’re using. That’s not the wire I would cut for a starter interupt, but still, there’s something seriously wrong with using the switch you’re using.

What I would do if I were in your position is.
    1. Stop doing electrical work when you don't know what you're doing. ( Don't be offended by this. We were all here at some point. )
    2. Undo everything that you did and place it back to stock configuration.

Causing serious and expensive damage modifying electrical & electronics only takes a millisecond. You were lucky this time.

I think what Muddin is looking for is

    How is the switch wired?

If you can show or explain how you wired the switch it would help.

I can’t make anything out of that.

At this point, it would be best to revert back to the original wiring setup.

If you are really afraid someone is going to steal your truck. Pull a fuse until you can look into an aftermarket alarm.

I don’t know if you know?
These trucks have security system that utilizes the a chip in the key.

half of my worry is that someone will steal it with the key in the car. I do deliveries to help pay for uni and I've had friends who have had been held up keys stolen and car gone. The areas I go to aren't really the best so I thought I could do a kill switch and also integrate a wireless remote with it too to remotely turn my cat off. Hopefully that makes sense

I understand what you are trying to do.
Your best option is aftermarket alarm if you want remote kill.

I’d also recommend not having the alarm fob on the same key ring as the keys.
In case someone “holds you up”

Next would be always turn the truck off, lock the doors, and take the keys.

What you are wanting to do is not going to be easily accomplished by yourself.

The very best advice is, find a different side job, ASAP.

Um, ya. That pic makes absolutely no sense.

@bluspectre I haven't read the whole thread, but looking at what you drew; it seems you spliced several wires together. Put everything back as it was. Then pick one wire. Preferably the feed from the fuse and insert the switch into that wire.

WTF? I wake up to a treasure map of Oak Island? Wiring is not your thing. I can fix a lot of things, but I don’t do brain surgery. Focus on your strong points and leave the rest to people that have skills in things you don’t.
