My dad bought a '61 Olds wagon and the dealership was giving away a brand new go kart with it. I remember looking out the second floor window as he backed the car up to the house, and seeing the go kart inside. I learned to drive on that kart.

Spotted my first Defender 130 outside of Banff yesterday. Cool that it is offered in 90, 110, and 130. Certainly imposing.

 

I like everything about the exterior except the tail lights.

1. the width of the rear tires
2. the diameter of the dual exhaust
3. the spring rate/height of front suspension

 

To me, it looks an awful lot like a Ford Flex . . .

I have another story about the 69-70 Shelby Mustangs. Early 90’s I was with my girl traveling from LA back to San Diego, we lived in SD. A car carrier was carrying 6 old first gen Shelby Mustangs, how often do you see that? My girl was driving as I made her slow down and pace the truck so I could get some photos. Lol - No big deal, she was used to my muscle car crazy way after several year of dealing with me.

Fast forward a month, I’m down at Pacific Beach San Diego and I walk into a dealership I often frequented that only deals in old classic muscle cars. Here in the showroom sits an orange ‘69 Shelby Mustang. I was blown away, my mind went to, this must be be one I saw on the trailer weeks earlier heading down from Los Angeles. I talked the owner of the dealership and it was confirmed it was. All other Shelby’s on that trailer were for private owners but this one was purchased by this dealer for his personal sale. I was back there a week late and it was gone. BTW this was my first experience with the 69-70 Shelby’s. I knew of the earlier models but these two model years were a mystery to me at the time, 1992’ish.
