Happened upon these today. The burnt orange T/A was a twin turbo, full roll cage with parachute, cheater slicks, beadlock rims. It sure looked the part. The orange Camaro wasn’t much far behind with a full cage, beadlocks and cheater slicks.

 

I saw a TV show where they restored one of these, they painted the woodgrain on which was a pretty cool process of squeegees and brushes.

Bitchin Rides / Kindig Designs, Dave Kindig is a master at that. Not saying that was the show that did one of those but I’ve seen some dashboards he’s done and he did a woodie wagon as well. Amazing wood like appearance.

 

Didn't get an opportunity to get a pic but was in traffic yesterday with an older gentleman driving a very clean Nash Metropolitan

 

Just a few tasty shots from this year's Trans Am Nationals in Tipp City, OH, last weekend. I loved the two restored OHC 6-cylinder cars. So many of these were pulled and replaced with V8s in the past, that nice examples are super rare. The drag cars were wild too, and both still rocked legit Poncho power. This show broke another attendance record, with just a few cars short of 400. Such a great time.

I had a friend in high school that rocked a OHC 6 in a Lemans and he routinely gave the V8s a run for their money. If they were foolish enough to give him a head start they handed over their money.

 

My brother had a ‘66 Lemans with the straight 6. Definitely some torquey motors.

 

Close to 40 years ago a 69 TA drove past me in the opposite direction, it's the only one I've ever seen in person on the road, still remember the street I was driving on too.

 

Visit the TA Nationals next year and you'll see at least a dozen in one place.

 

In 1969 I was 8 years old and a neighbor came home with one. I was in awe for several years until he sold it. Pretty sure that car had a huge influence on me with muscle cars. Along with the other ones in the neighborhood.

 

John DeLorean had those created when he was at GM. They were meant to be GM's answer to the Jaguar XKE. You have to admire the amount of effort it took to have a thing like that built in those times.
