My buddy's 66 Chevelle project

 

Got to drive a friend's C3 coupe in the gymkhana at the Looking Glass annual get together in the mountains, years ago. Lost my mind trying to judge where the ass end of that thing was in the two sections that had to be done in reverse! For those of you that haven't driven one, the rear vision on that car truly sucks, and it doesn't matter whether you're using the mirrors or looking back directly - it's really tough to tell where the tail is, if you don't drive one on the regular.

 

@Breknraj yeah, the tail of the car is considerably narrower than the front. But I rarely drive in reverse down the road…

 

Trust me, it wasn't my first choice, but that was how they laid out the course, so I had to (as did everyone else). I did OK, considering it wasn't my regular set of wheels, but I'll never forget that first real look backward thinking WTF!?!?!?

Not at all...love that era of Japanese cars.

 

My brother rolled one of these right after buying it new in 1977. Fell asleep at the wheel and rolled it several times. He ejected out into a field at 2:00am. Luckily a couple girls found him. He only suffered multiple superficial cuts from flying through the windshield. Super lucky, he then bought a 1978 Celica with the insurance money.

About 20 years ago l ran into a guy with one, he had shoehorned a Lexus V8 into it and had a 9" Ford tubbed out back, thing was a beast.

 

Awesome! I had a 1975 Dodge Colt that my buddy wanted me to do that with. I ended up just building the 4 banger up. He wanted to pull the HEMI out of his Roadrunner and drop it in the Colt. Would have been some serious shoe horning and sub framing. I should have taken him up on it.
