I'm more interested in the van. I saw this, and a few others at the Goodguys show a couple of weeks ago. These used to be everywhere. I hope I can still find a decent one in a few years. We'd use it for road trips and overlanding without major offroad duty.

 

Yep, out of the hundreds of cars there I had to get a photo of that van. This is how motocross riders did it back in the day without sponsors. It was called a privateer, load up a van like that and travel from race to race hoping to get a big sponsor.

 

Ahhh…you’re right. Even more of a rare car with that motor. I should have picked up on that. I was in a rush, back in the day a good friend had a ‘69 Montego that he hot rodded out. It had a strong running 302 in it.

 

I've that 70 Fairlane sitting at a friends place while my shop has some other Randoms in there. I need to make a decision on what to put in that car. my preference would be a 351, but a 302, with some high performance heads would be pretty easy to find. heck any good 5.0 from a crown vic, or mustang would be a easy drop in once the nanny parts are pulled off the engine.

 

Not a Mercury Cyclone? The nose looks a lot like a Cyclone my dad had when I was a kid. I remember him saying it had a 351 Windsor? Not a Cleveland

 

eh same car the "bullseye nose" would be the easiest give way but they really are the same car, and yes the windsor was later

 

I would post a pic but the only pics I have of it are on slides and I don’t know where his projector is. Some day I will dig them out.

 

I believe this chrome Bentley in the El Porto parking lot is definitive car p0rn. As my Dad used to say, "Just because you have money doesn't make you smart."

 

Says "Mercury CJ-429" inside the air cleaner. Close cousins though
