Went to a Bikes & Breakfast event in Poolesville, MD this morning and from 11-1 the town mayor opened up his collections and invited everyone to come and see his bikes and a couple of cars.

These are what I really went to see.

1987 Buell RR1000 Battletwin one of only 50 produced. Considered one of the "slipperiest" fairings ever designed one of these bikes now holds multiple land speed records at Bonneville and has gone over 209 mph. That particular bike used to belong to my former boss and Harley Dealership owner Jim Howell.

Buell RR1200 Battletwin one of only 59 produced.

Harley Davidson VR1000 street bike one of only 50 produced. The VR1000 was Harley Davidson's effort at going Superbike racing and 50 street units had to be built and sold to make it legal for racing. This bike was not offered in the US or North America for that matter. All 50 units sold new in Poland as they had the least restrictive emissions standards in the world at that time.

The rest of these are fairly recognizable.

Story time: I had a bright yellow Honda 600 coupe in 1972. 30ish massive horsepower in a 1200 pound car. I could rev it and pop the clutch and it would squeal the ten inch front tires pretty good.
So one night I'm dragging State in downtown SLC and I pull up, second car to the light. And on my right a brand new '72 Hemi Cuda with the dealer sticker still in the window pulls up next to me. Also second car at the light.
I rev my motor and squeal the tires, not moving anywhere because the hand brake is on.
And the Cuda looks over with a sneer on his face and his car full of friends laughing... and he revs his engine... and his foot slips off the clutch... and he rear ends the Toyota Celica in front of him.
The light changes... and we were gone...
    See ya...
