    A customer's Mexico Blue GT3RS. He stopped by the other day to take delivery of his 911 R. Unfortunately I can't post photos of either of the 911 R's at the moment.

    This beautiful piece of machinery made an appearance at this month's Caffeine & Octane. Yes, it's a real Viper.

    Just noticed they have the radio mounted vertically on this. How weird is that? Surely the original model wasn't that way?

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    I for one am glad to see that modern refinements are finally getting some love on car value. Historically, it has to all be numbers matching all original to bring these kind of numbers. I am building a protouring version of my '87 442 at the moment which historically would actually decrease its value too. Of course, since I bought it new in late '86, I still have all the numbers matching crap if someone after I'm dead and gone wants to make this car slow and handle like a turd again . . .

    Though even a protouring '87 442 won't rival most of the cars in this thread, I hope to have it all together by March . . . ish and will post accordingly. Right now, it looks WAY more scattered than this pic. Weight reduction and front to rear weight distribution though I'll never get to 50/50, complete suspension replacement with fully adjustable upper and lower control arms, modern front and rear anti-sway bars, steering assy upgrade with taller BJs, lowering 1-1.5" Eibach Pro SS Springs with Bilstein AKs, frame reinforcement in spots, adding front and rear frame rail bracing, moving to Wilwood Big Brakes up front and converting from drum to Wilwoods in back, and then just moving from 15x7s with S-rated crap for tires to 17x8s up front and 18x9.5s in back with some actual high performance tread under them. Should be on rails when I am done . . . as they say. There are a couple of Regals and Montes running damn respectfully in the GTV class with the Camaros, Mustangs, and Corvettes.

    Just had a deja vu moment. Sorry if I already told this story. Nearly 60, I remember clearly what I did 30 years ago but last week [??] . . . not so much.

    Where the hell are my keys . . . ?? :frusty:

    The Vertical Radios were stock in the older Vettes, I can even recall some GM Models in the 80s or 90s that had Vertical Radios too, I think maybe a Citation may have been one. I am digging the 442, always wanted to take one and do an LS and T56 Manual Swap, would be a beast to drive!

    They do, but their selection is limited and if you look at the prices on there, they're definitely not reasonable. They no longer do the 383's, 318's, 340's, etc. The only old-school(ish) motor they still produce is the 360 Magnum motors, and at $6k for the least expensive version it's not a cheap option. :notsure:

    You probably have to go back 2+ decades since they did a 383, 318, or 340.

    Times flying it seems like yesterday but 10 years ago I got a 360 Magnum short block, added Magnum R/T heads, Hughes cam, TTI headers, Edelbrock Rpm air gap, DUI Ignition, Holly carb and spent $6k 360/380HP were selling for about $5.2K then without Carb, exhaust, ignition. I saved a bunch assembling it myself.

    If you have your heart set on a 383, it's gonna be from a junkyard or craigslist.

    Yep. Afraid so.

    I'm still debating in my head about whether I want to do a Super Six or a mild 383. The 383 would be a ton of fun from a power & noise perspective, but doing a Super Six build would be fun from the standpoint of not seeing many of them around. Plus I've already got a Slant Six kicking around, along with a 6=8 Clifford intake & carb.

    Of course, it's a pointless mental exercise anyway at this point, since I don't have a 70's shortbed to drop a motor into anyway, and god knows I don't need another vehicle :notsure: :laugh:
