No judging - my friends with old Miatas liken them to psychotic roller skates and love the hell out of them. My friend Larry (not the one on here) gave me a ride in his 250 HP Miata, and while I thought we were going to DIE it never broke traction and always wanted to give more. Larry is a special breed.

Here is my driving joy - bought it new in 1996 while I was in the Army assigned to Germany. All of the BMW Z3s were actually made in Greer, NC and I paid a whopping $200 to have it shipped to Germany, trained to Wuerzburg and delivered to the BMW agent's office right outside the base front gate. Near perfectly balanced at 51% front/49% rear, she lives in the corners. She gets an annual run out through the mountain roads of VA and NC - Tail of The Dragon, Diamondback, The Snake and numerous others. About 80k on the clock.

Got the '69 out of storage on Saturday. An oil change, tuneup, and quick wash & wax and we took the kayaks down to the GF's parent's camp for the evening. And the GF snapped a 'magic hour' pic with a real camera that's not in a cell phone, too.

I wouldn't waste my money on VHT. Never used it until the last set of headers i built and it sucks IMO.

EDIT: Go buy buy some tickets!

    I already painted it.

Problem is, the paint didn't stick to the primer on 70% of the block.

Valve covers, timing cover and oil pan all look perfect. Primer adhesion is perfect. Just the paint.

Not sure if my bad, but having to remove and repaint sucks and isn't free so I'd like to try and fix.

Degreaser, primer and paint are all VHT.

Technically degreaser is Duplicolor, but they're all the same company. Not sure who owns who.

Someone remind me.. was there ever a thread for guys doing old car/truck builds and had questions or wanted to show some work off or that kind of thing?

Like an old car BS thread. Had the idea before, don't remember if I pulled that trigger.

Anyway, researching VHT issues.. it sucks. It's sucked for a few years, even when heat cured which is supposed to make it bulletproof per VHT.

Not sure what to do now, but buyer beware.

Yeah, never been too impressed. I VHT'd the headers on my '69 last year, followed the instructions to the letter. And it's already mostly flaked/burned off. Going with stainless when it's time to replace them, I think. They're expensive, but I don't want them to look like crap after a few years.

You saw what it did on my headers... That was during the so called curing process. Back to BBQ paint on headers for me.
