That is one serious blower on the Caddy.

 

Every year at the end of the summer, a hot rod club called Gasket Goons hosts a large car show at the Silver Creek AA in Springtown, Pennsylvania. I pretty much missed the show first time I went in September 2013 due to family obligations, but there was still plenty going on when I finally did get there that evening.

This is a 1942 Chevrolet pickup that has obviously been significantly modified. The current owner has owned it since the 1970s. The body is about all that remains of the original truck, and it has over a million miles on it! This one-of-a-kind vehicle is titled in Florida as a 1942 Chevy. It is also registered in Florida, insured, and completely street legal! The lovely young lady posing next to it in this first picture was at the show for an earlier pinup model contest:


The guy in this photo is the owner. He was a very nice guy, and he was telling a story of how he a state trooper (somewhere in the South) clocked him at 160 MPH in this truck with his radar gun, pulled him over, and arrested him! He was actually handcuffed and taken to a detention center, only to be released without so much as a speeding ticket hours later! Why?

Well, like I said the truck was legal (insurance, license plate, registration, etc). The owner had a valid driver's license and a clean enough driving record.

The trooper (may have been a sheriff; don't remember) didn't feel like doing to the inevitable mounds of paperwork that would inevitably come with booking somebody for the amount of charges this guy was facing!

These were taken at the Warminster PBA benefit show (held at an old Navy airstrip). The truck is a 1982 Chevrolet C-10 stepside owned by a local cop, and the cute girl was a finalist in the pinup contest:
