    Wow. I wonder how many miles he can go before he has to replace the gaskets. If I remember right they were only running around 12-13 stock back in the 80's.

    Black smoke isn't that unusual; if he's upped the boost he's probably got it set to run a little on the rich side as a precaution so it doesn't lean out under full boost and melt a piston.

    Although it's not too unusual to see an older vehicle tuned for that precaution in general; I've got the '69 tuned to run like Forrest Gump for that reason.
