Actually, '66 was the last year for the 389 Tripower. In '67 GM banned all use of multiple carburetion except, I believe, in the Corvette. Also in '67 the 389 grew to 400 c.i.

Along about 2008, with an .035 overbore and the addition of a stroker crank, the 400 in this particular car grew to 462 c.i.

If I keep my foot out of it (it's difficult:D) I can manage to pull down 14 to 15 mpg., mostly due to the 3.07 geared rear. With the secondaries on the carb opened up the gas gauge goes from full to empty pretty quickly.

My dream car....Jaguar E-Type....but instead I have to settle for an XJS...which I hope one day will be worth half as much.

Let me start off by saying my first car was '64 GTO #104. Also owned a 2nd '64 GTO and was crewing on a friends '69 Judge at the points meet where it became the NHRA E/S ET record holder. So yea, I dig old muscle.

Restos are expensive and you still have a 50 yo platform. Resto mods are more expensive (done right) but you can have an awesome modern driver with the looks of yore.

    However............

My favorite somewhat affordable body style is the FD RX 7. One in black or Montego Blue, retrofitted properly with a LSx drive line, makes my wallet quiver.

But my more affordable choice would be a 2001 Miata SE (which is BRG over tan) with a full turn key Flying Miata LSx crate motor, ECU, 5 speed and Getrag diff. I'd finish underhood in semi black and the trunk inside in speckle paint, aka mid '60's GM finishes, just for the GM flair.

I dig the sleeper look. I've always loved surprising kids at both stoplights and closed course events.

The solid drag times, killer track ability and awesome autox thrill ride, along with mild street and highway manners would fulfill my car dreams.

Looks like this example has Pontiac Rally II wheels? Seems odd for a Yenko......... Unless that's some Chevy wheel my addled brain has forgotten. Which is possible.

I love sleepers. My first car (in my name) was a '79 Olds Toronado, special built for my grandfather (metallurgical engineer from GM) with a 403 Rocket and a Cadillac Seville transmission. Holy shit - it was powerful, quick, and quiet. We overhauled it in the car because it was too heavy for the lift. I took it to a drag night at the local track where we could race the cops, and had the losing officer tell me about the ticket he gave my grandmother in "that beast."

I miss it, but Ohio winters killed it.

Sweet baby Jesus. She's beautiful. I'll have a Supra in the garage in the next couple years. I'd gladly take an RX-7 as well. Used to work on all the 90's turbo cars back then.

    What I have.

1949 Chevrolet business coupe, roller, someone else's mid project chop attempt. image.jpg
    image.jpg

And a donor 1951, same model. Original frame (and an intact roof).

This car was cut apart and stripped to the frame. Not pictured is a 327 V8 that will find its home under the hood. Frame will be cleaned and painted, bagged front and rear and the body will be moved from the current frame (with Volare front end) when it's done and ready. Hopefully the body work is done by then also.

Looking for an TH350.. btw. :D
