True enough, but this was 20 years ago too, and they didn't get much love then either. Car shows were the worst...
The "GTO guys" was in quotes as it was referring to those self-proclaimed experts who feel the need to put a voice to their ignorance. I managed a respectable 13.33 @ 109 with the 350. It came on strong on the top end, but needed a looser torque converter and more gear.

...^^^... That engine looks like the engine I Had in my first **drivable car (air cleaner was different) ... 1951 Chrysler Imperial Limousine Family Funeral Car.
EDIT: IIRC, it was an automatic with a clutch pedal.

**Had a 1956 Chevy (non-drivable) before the Limo, took the engine apart (couldn't get it back together ) and sold it for parts.

...^^^... I actually bought 2 of these .... weird deal.

SET aka Jim Moran bought a bunch of these and could not sell them in the south.

He (SET) discounted them to the max with Toyota discounts ... AND ... he also gave away a personal SET check for $3,000.00 for each unit bought.

I bought 2 ... trucked them to my buddy in White River Junction, VT and sold them for a nice profit.

IIRC ...it had a little button on the dash for the AWD.

PS ... This was about the same model that Toyota was selling as the first Lexus too.

Toyota took a Camry, deleted a door gasket and a few small things and called it a Camry ... and kept those things and called it a Lexus.

The original Lexus was really a Camry for the most part. That changed as time went by though.
Lexus had an unusual start too ... about the same time.

So far the cars I’ve posted have been just like the ones my dad has when I was a kid (colors vary) but the old memories are getting fuzzy. So far I’m batting a thousand (I think) He also had this one.

My Neighbor had a barn find a few years ago that had a similar bodystyle, it was a 58 or 59 Dodge Challenger with only 20,000 miles. I didn't even know that Dodge used the Challenger name prior to 1970.
