62 Bel Air bubble tops have the same roofline as a 61 Impala but the body is the same as a 62 Impala except the Bel Air has thinner side trim and four tail lights instead of six.
I heard a story that they had leftover roofs from 61 Impala's and that's how the 62 Bel Air came to be..

I think I've posted this before, but since we're on the subject.
Some guys will ad the 62 Impala side trim and the extra tail lights to a 62 Bel Air making it a Bel Air/Impala hybrid.

I owned a couple of Impalas back in the 90's but mine were all original, I must be the only Mexican that doesn't like customized trailer queens, but this is just baddass!!
The paint is lighter than the original 1961 satin grey but it looks great, the interior is mostly original except for the switches and the sound system,
the motor and engine bay look original, and it even has the original style trunk mats. They obviously had the budget to go crazy but I really like that they didn't..

...^^^... My grandfather had that same color in a 1962 Biscayne (single rear tail lights) ... IIRC ... 283/170 automatic.

FYI - Both the Biscayne and the Belair had the double taillights on each side. The Biscayne was the lightweight of the bunch. It was a favorite with the drag racers. You could get it with the 409 and 4 speed.

I like the old Brats. I had a buddy with one in high school and it was a little tank.
And if the girl comes with it, then I'd call that a bargain (although she'd be much more expensive than the car in very short order, I suspect...)

Yeah, she'd probably take all of 5 minutes to be more expensive than the car, then.

Only if you're a GM guy. Us Mopar freaks like to claim the '55 Chrysler C300 was the first sleeper; the first production car with a 300hp engine option, and they dropped into a regular luxury passenger car.

Wake up and smell the flowers!

I wrenched in a Subaru dealership when the Brat's were new. We had a snowplow on one and used it to clear the lot. Had to throw sandbags and whatnot in the bed to keep the back wheels on the ground.

I swear that Subaru must have used 300wt oil in the transmission & differentials. Until it warmed up on a cold morning you'd let off of the gas and it was like you'd stepped on the brakes. My mom's 5 speed Loyale was the same way, now that I think about it...

Not disagreeing about the Chrysler 300, but the definition of a sleeper is something that looks like granny’s car, then blows the doors off everyone. The 300 was a little too visible to be a sleeper. I wasn’t sure about this until I checked online, but the 1955 300 used the front end from the Chrysler Imperial, the mid section from the New Yorker and the rear quarter from the Windsor, so it definitely stood out, and not as a stripped down, bare-bones model. But they did tear up the NASCAR tracks for a couple of years in the mid 50s.
