Someone sketched what they thought a new GN would look like, no thanks...

But the mid engine prototypes were well into the early 1960’s. This one just happens to be the most memorable and gorgeous one.

My Moser 31s and 1350 yoke plus matching driveshaft I just bought for my revamped-beefed 442 10 bolt are having axle envy.

But, mine should be tough enough. I should be ~ 600HP with the Holley EFI switchover. Hard to believe I built a 450HP 550LBFT big block Olds with the 800cfm QJ that is NOT enough power. Only 4000 miles on it but doing a fairly extensive resto update to the rest of the car. Lowering about 2", all new body bushings, box then blast/coat the frame, modern upper lower arms front and rear, modern anti-sways front and rear, added front and rear frame rail bracing, new steering assy, coilovers, Wilwood brakes, drum to disc in back, all easier if the motor/tranny are out of the way so . . . :notsure: might as well add a bit more cam, air gap intake, Holley EFI + electronics, convert to these cool new headers Thornton just came out with that are NOT in your freakin way EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU DO ANYTHING. Which is why I currently still have the WZ manifolds on it.

    Now, if I can just get'er'done . . . [details]

Might swap to serpentine if I have any money left . . . these are kinda cool too!

Wasn’t there an Opal that had a similar profile? Shorter in the rear but the same curve to the front fenders.

Opal GT. Nicknamed the mini Vette. I test drove one once. A four cylinder and a very cramped drivers seat, especially in the leg foot pedal area. Glad I didn’t buy it.

Edit: Here’s what it looked like.

This is one I’d loved to see in person. It’s an Olds F-88. Based on a Corvette chassis, had a fiberglass body with a 324 c.i. V-8. Built in 1954, GM called them “dream cars.”

Front-engined Opel GT. Not for anyone taller than 5’ 6” or 140 pounds.

About the same size as the Toyota 2000GT.

All you need is plenty of credit card space and a J. C. Whitney catalog.

And finally, also from 1954, the Pontiac Bonneville Special. Like the Olds F-88 and the Corvette, it had a fiberglass body. The engine was an in-line 8, with 4 carbs. If you are familiar with the 55-56 production Pontiacs, you can see real similarities on the rear fenders.

Looks like it inspired the Batmobile.

That was a Plymouth Fury concept IIRC.
