Last post of the night, I promise. I saw this car at the Texas state fair around 1964. The Chrysler Turbine car. I thought it was the neatest thing I’d ever seen. Chrysler had been experimenting and building turbine cars since the late 50s, I think, but this was the best looking one of the bunch. Then I saw it in a movie called “The Lively Set.” Then i built a model of it. I’ve had a thing for copper colored cars ever since.53771168-91BA-4D50-AC79-F8DC71890F6D.jpg

It's been years, but didn't Harrah have that in his collection in Sparks?

I’ll be honest with you and say I didn’t. I Googled him up and it now rings a bell. Looks like you’re in good hands with that engine.

Ok, then it was the Fiat that only short people could get into. They’re all running together in my head now. My uncle had a GT (which he replaced with a Manta for some unknown reason) and my grandfather had a Fiat, and I was too tall for the Fiat even as a kid.

I’m 6’ and when I test drove one I don’t remember leg room being the issue it was the pedals being too close together for my comfort. Did you find that to be the case?

I also sat in a 2010 Saleen S7 which had the same issue. I wouldn’t have afforded this car anyways so it was a moot point. Lol

1959 Impala. One of the best body designs of all time.

Love it! Although I’d rather have a 1959 El Camino. Same design only, well you know, it’s almost a truck. ;)

These have been going for just ridiculous money on BJ and Mecum the last few years. I saw one that hit 6 figures.

I had forgotten about this thread. You all inspired me enough to actually work in the shop today. Nothing worth showing yet. Just cleaning, organizing tools and parts, laying out my gantry hoist for assembly. Now on the wrong side of 60, doing a body off by myself from "under" the car with floor jacks and jack stands is just a tad too stressful [now anyway]. I had a chance to buy a 2 ton gantry hoist for ~ $900 so I can "safely" remove even the hood by myself, front end assy, motor/tranny, and then the body off the frame "from above". Thing should easily pay for itself by the time I lather rinse repeat in reverse order later on.

OK, back to the regularly scheduled porn . . . Both Restos but VERY well done [IMO]!

I would LOVE to have this . . . probably sell for $200K

    https://www.mecum.com/lots/FA0820-432734/1958-chevrolet-corvette-resto-mod/

Or this . . . not sure why this is only listed at $35-45K? I suspect the right "more money than sense" bidders go at it, this will go MUCH higher.
