About as successful as VW’s automatic stick shift.

Yeah, really it was just a stepping stone in the move towards actual automatic transmissions. I think they were mostly phased out by the mid-50's as Chrysler brought the Powerflite and Torqueflite transmissions into production.

That Mustang reminds me of the Malco Mustang Gasser that was owned and driven by " Ohio" George Montgomery that was a very famous Drag race car in the 60's and 70 's

Those engines were very under rated back in the day and made way more hp than was listed by Ford . They were listed by Ford at 657hp but made much more than that

Here's a very well known and famous Drag Race car that I watched compete at OCIR and other West coast tracks back in the day

B&M and a few other racing transmission builders back in the 60's and early 70's made a auto transmission with a clutch . The two most popular ones were the Clutch flite ( Torqueflite transmission) and Clutch glide ( power glide)

As a long time stock car racing fan, I’m really sorry we never got to see one of these run in NASCAR.

I'm sure he is! Those cars are so cool and fascinate me...Old times. Ive always wanted to go down there for that event but it never lines up with busy season at work.

Holy shit those tires haha. Brings back memories man. One of my old jobs we used to drive participants up the mountain in a deuce to zipline down the mountain at this resort. I do not miss that suspension that's for sure.

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
Seeing this 88 picture brought back some memories.

When Olds introduced the Rocket 88 in 1949 it started some big changes at GM and others.

    1) 1949 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 -- Basically the horsepower of a Cadillac in a Chevy body.

    2) Rock and roll. The Rock and Roll Hall of fame recognizes "Rocket 88 - 1951" as the first rock and roll song. Some debate in the community about the first artist.
