They are more reliable than most Japanese brands according to most lists.

I didn't mean to offend...just not a fan of their product.
My observations are from what I see on the road, not from lists. I work next door to a Kia dealer, and see a lot of tow-ins. Looking around at vehicles on the road, Hyundai and Kia vehicles tend to look a little worn sooner than most other makes. Four of the last five vehicles I've seen burning on the side of the road have been one of the two (3 Kias and a Hyundai). I live in the North, where cars get a 5-6 month salt bath every year...the only thing that shows rust sooner is a (Dodge) Ram. Before I bought my FR-S, I got to test one back to back (on a track) against a Genesis 2.0. Even rear wheel drive couldn't make me like it. I really tried...

I've noticed many Hyundai and Kias that are newer that puff out larger billows of smoke taking off from a light. Also I've seen many new ones that have tail lights that don't work properly.

I see that with lots cars. Not trying to hype up Hyundai cause I'm sure their standards aren't up to Toyota but I bet they can give American manufacturers a run for their money.

I would say that pretty much all the manufacturers have there well built vehicles and there crappy vehicles. The F series trucks generally have been pretty highly rated where as Fords smaller compact vehicles have been plagued with trans issues. I see more old Hyundai SUVs than their sedans.

All of this could very well be just unique to my area or from what I've seen.
