its my daily driver and i'll have drop off duty every morning and some pick ups in the afternoon. I don't haul that often. I'm wondering if I should trade in for a 4runner. The 2nd row is roomier and can most likely fit 3 car seats and i know the SR5 or Limited have that third row option.

I mean it's bigger for sure, but not that much bigger, you are borderline in sequoia territory.

I have only needed to do this when watching friends kids, but I've done 2-rear facing car seats and 1 front facing (not booster) in mine. I did front facing in the middle. I had to pull my seat a little forward and it wasn't super comfortable, but it was definitely driveable for "drop-off and pick-up". Now that mine is just in a booster it would be way easier to fit 3 in the back (when I did it, mine was one of the 2 in the rear-facing). All of the car seats were some variations of Graco (don't know all the models anymore). I did the 2 rear-facing with the latch system, and the front facing I used the seat belt to mount it.

No point in making things more difficult for yourself or your family. Even if you're able to get 3 seats back there somehow in the taco, it won't be a long term solution and everyone will be miserable after that 1st week. Get a proper vehicle and be done. An SR5 4runner with a 3rd row option will keep you and the family happy.

Even if you somehow manage to fit three car seats back there just imagine the misery of having two of them rear facing for a couple of years.

We had one rear facing on the passenger side and it was very tight.

luckily my wife and I are short. 5'8 for me, 5'3 for my wife. having our first rear facing behind the passenger was comfortable enough. but when my FIL who is 5'10 280 lbs tries to sit in the passenger he's a stuffed sausage. it looks like I'm heading to the dealership tomorrow to look at 4runners.

Just babysat our twin 2 yr old nephews. My bro-in-law has a OR DCSB, it's tight but doable! Their mom is also short, 5'4" and sometimes sits in the middle.

Now turn those car seats rear facing, and try to put a front facing or a booster in the middle... OP is gonna have three kids!

Yes sir. I made the decision this past weekend to trade in the taco already. I traded in for a 4runner with third row seating.

My wife and I just had twins and we have a 2.5 year old son. I just bought a Diono Radian for my son and we have two Chicco Keyfits for the twins.

I'm doing a test fit later this week (it's not a priority since we have a Honda Pilot), but all of my research says it should work. I'll post a picture here when I get around to it.

OP - I too have 3 kids - a 5 year old and twins aged 2.5. I only got my Taco 3 days ago (first post here btw). Getting the seats in was harrowing but once installed, the truck fits 3 kids no problem (attached photo for reference).

Obviously my situation is a little different since everyone is facing forward but whatever you do, you'll want to invest in a Diono Radian RXT - they're great car seats and SUPER slim. With a Radian you will have no trouble fitting 2 more car seats in the backseat, the only tricky part is going to be positioning the front seats so that you're still comfortable and able to actually drive the truck.

Before you do anything drastic like selling your truck borrow an infant seat with detachable base from a friend and test fit it behind the driver's seat to see if you can be comfortable driving the truck. The detachable base is a must so that your oldest can climb into the middle seat.

If yes, then just put the Radian in the middle and have your oldest climb in first before you snap the twins into their car seat bases. If it doesn't work behind your seat you can try the Radian in rear facing config behind your seat with the detachable base infant seat behind the passenger seat.
