So my wife and I just found out we are expecting. My question is for those of you guys who have young ones. What is the room like with a baby/car seat in the rear of the double cab? Do the front seats need to be moved up? I'm concerned that I (6'1) and my wife (5'8) are going to have our knees firmly planted into the dash. Not finding any related thread on the app.

    Thanks for the help fellas.

When the baby is rear-facing put the car seat on the passenger side. Your wife will be fine for room...honestly you would probably be fine too, but I assume you're in the vehicle more than her.

Once you can have the car seat front facing it doesn't matter which side...plenty of room...congrats!

I'm 6'1" also and I've never had a problem with room in my truck with the car seat. Rear facing, forward facing, I've always had plenty of room with the car seat in the middle . Don't worry.

double cab has much more room than the ac, you will be fine.
my 2 year old has a front facing seat and has tons of space without having to move the seat into the dash.
rear facing will be ok, plenty of legroom left up front

We bought a car seat/stroller combo and it can be pretty bulky. I'm 6'3" and would be eating knees w it behind me. My wife is 5'7" and doesn't have to adjust her seat position for it. Rear facing takes up substantially more room than forward facing.

I know at stores like buy buy baby you can test fit before you buy.

no experience with rear facing, w/front facing there is ample room. i'm especially happy with my diono brand seat for my son because of the narrow profile. that will come in handy for when wifey is ready for #2 and #3 haha

Congrats on the news! You will be fine and won't have to move the seats forward. For the future...my 6yr old son sits behind me in a forward facing booster and has plenty off room and I'm 6'4"

I'm 6'. I have a booster on rear passenger side and an infant rear facing on rear driver side. It's a little tight for me. Seat has to be so upright I'm hunched over. Thinking of swapping them since momma is only 5'1".

Plenty of room facing the car seat either way.I have no children but have had friends children as well as my nieces and nephew in the truck.

Op- it really depends on the seat. Try them out first.

I'm 5'11 and have two booster seats with the back support. When I have my 6 year old I have to move my seat forward. If I don't she'll have her legs pressed against the back of the seat. Same with my 4 year old.

There is room, but it will get tight.

As others of said you have plenty of room.

Just pay attention to the size and design of the seat when you are buying them. We bought a new rear facing seat when the boy was born 9 months ago. It would NOT fit in my truck, and it would NOT fit in my wifes car(it was a small car). The darn seat all the way forward and it was still banging against the back of the seat. I have no idea what that seat was designed for. It was one of those infant, toddler convertibles. It had a base that the seat snapped into so you didn't have to take the baby out of the seat. That only last for a couple months anyway.

We went back and found a different one. And it works perfect. The passenger seat is maybe 2 inches up from where it normally sits.

Once the baby is out of the rear facing and into a forward facing car seat it is much easier. There is so much more room. Then when they get to a booster its even better. So much easier to move the booster around between vehicles. We just hit that point with our daughter then wife decided she wanted another kid.

Two back there now, both forward facing but they were in baby seats not too long ago. We had Graco's and they fit perfect.

The room was fine for me and my wife when we had the rear facing car seat in the middle, but we couldn't fit the German shepherd in there too. We changed the car seat to the passengers side so we could fit the dog too. Momma had to move her seat up a good bit. I can't sit over there anymore.

I have two car seats in back, one behind both seats. they are the cheap Costco type for hauling the 1 1/2 and 4 year old to daycare and back.

It's quite tight, in fact the seat behind me is so tight the little guy has to spread a legs a bit. I'm 6'3" tall so i'm sure that's why. The other seat isn;t quite as bad, but not much more than maybe 4-6" of room.

Forward facing car seats you are fine, 'decent' amount of room.

Rear facing is tight and uncomfortable, no way around it.

Not sure how dudes can say there is plenty of room ( only time I have seen and heard someone say plenty of room is a car seat in a minivan).

Just got a Diono Rainier for my 3y.o. Fits great! Very impressed with the quality too. I thought the Britax Marathon (that is in his mother's car) was the best, this is even better than that. Was expensive but, no price is too much for the safety of kids.
