    Hi All -
I'm in need of shipping services to transport a car cross country...

Boston to San Diego. (Or LA)

Does anyone here on TW know, or have a contact or a reference for a reliable and trustworthy (and reasonably priced) car shipper?
    - Preferably encosed...

Pretty flexible on the pick up schedule...

    Thank you!

I use Shiply (they basically list the vehicle on a board it appears and you get a bunch of quotes). If you want enclosed it will be pricey, they have an option for enclosed quotes.

My broker is Fisher Shipping out of Mass.
Their fee is pretty modest compared to others. I've used them about 8-10 times and it's been good service each time.
The only times I've dealt directly with a hauler was for Ag equipment.

You know this is going to be VERY expensive, right?

I am bracing myself... Last time I shipped cross country enclosed, it was like $1,300 but a few years ago. I've not been able to reach the guys, so I am looking for a current positive reference, hopefully.

Brokers make me a bit nervous... who know what scheme they might cook up. I just don't want multiple transfers between point A and Point B. But I am open to them - hoping for a good reference from someone who uses these services often. I need to ship an old classic I don't want dinged. I know this is a truck site, but TW folks are quite resourceful!

Reviews in the car shipping industry are like Tacomaworld - You only hear about the horror stories... :D

We used Chip's out of Foxborough. We thought the name ironic, but they came well recommended. To Austin, TX was $1,900.00 and took nine days. In our case the driver stopped along the way to pick up and drop off in other areas, which is part of why it took that long.

Shipping a car from Boston to San Diego is a big move. I did something similar last year and ended up using an enclosed transporter. It was worth it for peace of mind. I found a few companies by asking around in local forums and checking reviews online.

I finally got a good rate and did it. All is good... :bananadance:

I have the contact details of the shipper - PM me if you need them to avoid a broker fee. Great bunch of guys operating a handful of trucks going all over the country.

Timing is everything - but it is possible they may have a truck close you your location... In my case, I was able to accommodate their dates.
