Car-Solutions / Germes Labs RFCC Car Camera Control System -Firmware Update??

In early march 2021 I ordered the Car-Solutions / Germes Labs camera adapter for my yet to be delivered 2021 ORAC. Specifically I ordered and received: RFCC Car Camera Control System for Toyota Touch 2 CT17-19 / Entune 3.0 (Product ID: 894269) – having been told this was the right one for my inbound truck.

Upon examining product I noticed they went to the trouble of enabling firmware upgrade functionality. As my truck is scheduled to arrive in a week or two I contacted car-solutions tech support to inquire if firmware updates had been released for the unit I ordered back in early March 2021. Apparently there have, sort of – see email chain below – they inquired if I had touch lock system which if I understand their question I do in TRD OR .. Anyway, not sure if I should install firmware update or not prior to receiving truck and installing front camera / adapter.

Wondering if anyone else has updated firmware, or knows reasons for update (or roll-back). Firmware provided for update has “old” in directory name, which is odd. Comments / insight welcomed as I seek more info from car-solutions.

Yes, my 2021 TRD Off Road has touch lock system. Pictures of adapter labels appear below, ty.

Hello. How to udapte:

1. Disconnect the RFCC adapter.
2. Switch the 6th DIP to the ON position.
3. Connect the RFCC adapter to PC by microUSB cable.
4. RFCC will be seen as a flash memory. Extract the "firmware.bin" file from the archive and copy it to the root of the RFCC flash. When asked whether to replace the file, confirm.
5. After copying, disconnect the RFCC from PC, turn the 6th DIP to the OFF position and then connect back to the car.

Did you get it resolved after the firmware update?Im having a issue with mine to were it won't switch to the front cam from reverse to drive.Sometimes it work sometime it doesn't..

 

I only ever ran it with the new firmware - flashed before installed, I've never had any problem, works great - I did have a Natika camera crap-out, and the cams don't like heat, but the adapter device and firmware have been primo

 

Where did you get the updated firmware?

 

car-solutions tech suppport via their website www.car-solutions.com - used email link for tech support, Dmitri was great - don't know your issue with cam adapter but my guess is both versions were fine, I was trying to be proactive wrt some shiz I read on forum which may or may not have been a real issue.

 

Just started having intermittent issue with my controller going from reverse to drive. It gets stuck on rear cam when going from reverse to drive and doesn't switch to the front cam unless i do it in manual mode.The hard part is it doesn't do it all the time.I happened 3 times since i had the controller.2months old.I tried to reach out to support@car-solutions.com but no response and so as Taco garage where i bought the unit from.Frustrating...

 

yah that would be frustrating. idk if the firmware update they provided was intended to be reactive to that specific issue, late here but I'll dig tomorrow and see if I can find the file and install instructions if you'd like - I just don;t know if there are vintage/age issues or not for firmware compatibility, so use at your own discretion/risk.. -if I forget msg me
