Recently had a compustar car starter installed and it lead to numerous problems immediately after. Slow acceleration, decline in performance as the day went on, maxed out an 60kmh, couldnt climb hills etc. I had it disabled but the problem existed until I had Toyota remove it. Now I'm in a huge fight with the installer to get my money back. Does anyone have any idea why this might have occured and how they installed it to cuase these problems?

If they tapped into the EFI circuitry, especially anything to do with the MAF it will cause this kind of interference. I know someone who after installing a CB, the truck would die as soon as he keyed the mike.

You have it in writing from the dealer right? I would be direct with the guys: either give me my money or I take you to small claims!

I would have to say it was the installation, not the starter
I have a compustar starter installed on my truck, by the dealer when new
and have had no problems what so ever.
May be hard to prove though, you would need good documentation.

    Thanks Guys.

Good to know that it was installer and not the product. After fighting with them for 45 mins and by threatening to sue them with thanks to the proper docs from Toyota I was fully compensated by the installer. Still want a starter installed but I think I'll go through Toyota.
