wow, that is some serious damage, I am curious as to how you couldn't feel it or hear it when it happened?

I didn't hear/feel a thing. I think it just pressed it in and didn't slam into it.

I've been to some touchless washes with just water pressure-(in my wrangler with hardtop) and it was so loud and had so much pressure I almost gave it gas and drove thru the plastic roll-down door to get away from it- they have the pressure dialed way up on most car washes! OUCH !

Happened to my Truck owning it only 2 months. They offered me a free car wash SMH, never brought my Truck to a car was again.

Maybe its the columns going around the vehicles turning too early and hitting the truck, it doesn't detect the right length and bam hits the side panel?

seems like if a car wash could do damage like this to a vehicle, every vehicle that uses this car wash should be having the same damage as this, so there must be others having crushed in quarter panels or doors, fenders etc. it cannot be just one person who gets crushed to this extent.

So did OP ever confirm if there was a touchless wash or if the spinners got him?

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
I gave in to a automated brush type last winter after my dealer was giving out free washes for this particular wash. About a day later I noticed one of my top rain channel/weld strips was missing. Never again -I went back to my dealer and they replaced the strip under warranty. I said to the Svc. mgr. "you all may want to stop giving out those free coupons.
Only when it is too cold and/or when my truck is full of hwy. salt, do I go to a automated brushless car wash.
Just last week after driving across Kansas in a blizzard (I 70 was closed for 12 hours, and we got stalled in "beautiful" Wakeeny Ks.) my truck changed color twice. It went from Blue to black to white (from salt). when I got home I decided - It needed a wash NOW, and I went to a brushless - I spoke to the attendant and he said you may want to do some heavy soapy manual washes first, before he ran it thru the touchless automated wash. In the end it came out very clean. problem is then 2 days later - I got it muddy again going out in the woods to cut fire wood. oh well?

For most people it’s a matter convenience and cost. It’s too easy to just pay another $6-$8 when your pumping gas and go through the automatic wash. I have a local place that does $10 hand washes, but it can sometimes take over an hour to get in and out because of how busy they get.

First post ever on here. But I’m also posting my mystery dent, as I have no idea how it happened.

Second image is poor lighting, but was able to partially pull it out. Really tough spot.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
Most carwashes have security cameras. Ask for footage of the day / time you had your car washed.

I've hit a tree in the door of my truck while sliding off a muddy trail, and had less damage than that

I can lean pretty hard on the rear box panel and no metal compromise.....that took a hard hit, not from water....strange!
