The only option, as I stated to the OP earlier, is when the screen pops up showing you which sensors are going off all you need to do is touch the little speaker symbol at the bottom of the screen. It mutes all those bells and whistles going off. It will reset itself after the carwash and return to normal function. Problem solved.

Ouch. I'm 55. I'm not 'younger' but not old. I am a busy guy with work and family. I use my Taco partly for work, partly for family and fun. I spend my free time woodworking, keeping up the house, and chasing after the family. Taco's great for all of that. I take my truck to the car wash a few times a month and expect to get at least a decade out of it, if not more, as I have with every other Toyota I've owned - and those have all gone through the car wash year-round, including through many New England winters. They've done great. Very happy for ya if you enjoy the car washing process as much as I enjoy building a nice piece of furniture. Even happy for ya if you think hand-washing is better than the machine wash. Do what works for you. But please don't malign those of us who chose the machine. Be nice.

OP, sadly seems this thread has veered way off topic. I have the same car wash issue. I haven't been able to find a satisfactory solution either. I keep hitting the X which only works as you've stated - until the next section of the car wash. In my wife's Lexus there's a steering wheel button that mute's the sensors in a similar way, but for the duration of the car wash. Wish the X in the Taco did the same. I'm taking my Taco in the minor service this week. I'll ask the tech and report back if I find anything out that's helpful.

Are you hitting the X in the top right, if so touch the speaker symbol in the bottom middle, that mutes it for the entire wash.

use earplugs when driving through, works for annoying passengers too.
the TSS stuff is unavoidable, it shits kittens just driving on an S shaped stretch of road with parked cars. Just curse at it and keep the incidents in mind. The dealerships will sometimes use the alert historys as justification to say that you are abusing the vehicle and voiding the warranty.

On mine, the screen goes to the front camera and starts making warning sounds. At the top right of my screen there's a little speaker/sound symbol. If I hit that then it mutes the warning sounds until I put the truck back in drive.

EDIT: I see others saying that they press an X, but mine is definitely not an X. It looks like the volume symbol on a computer. I press that symbol and it then has a slash mark through the speaker and everything is silent.

have you tried lightly pulling the parking brake a notch? or giving the brake enough tap to register an action but not lockup? adding false states like this used to turn off some of the warnings with GM vehicles.

PXL_20250127_004005886.jpg PXL_20250127_004015808.jpgI think we have a winner to whoever mentioned the little speaker icon. It does silence the cacophony of warnings at least with a non moving object. I'll definitely give it a proper test the next time I decide to take my truck thru my local paint destroying car wash.

Yes - mutes it only until the next car wash section. And seems we have the same model, SR5. Definitely hitting the X and I *think* I'm hitting the speaker symbol as well but I'll try again. Thx

Yay! My screen in the SR5 is a little different as I don't have as many sensors but I'm going to a car wash today just to give this a try!!!

Ehhhhhh..... Every truck I've ever had, two van's I've been in and my Fusion all had that spooky scary problem where the spinning floobie that does your roof causes it to do the ol' sheet metal pop in pop out. That's something manufacturers should work on but I never had lasting issues and we aren't seeing reports of vehicles going down the road and doing the can-opener all of the sudden where the roof peels back. I've even taken two of the wife's convertible mustangs through the car wash. They did fine. Can't remember if we de-activateted that overhead floobie though.

I remember when the new gen Colorado/Canyons had this issue where it actually dented the roof of the truck. GM reinforced the roofline to prevent future issues but everyone here thought it was hilarious about 'GM quality'

Just make sure you don’t hit the X just the speaker symbol that will mute it for the entire carwash. This was aggravating for me the first few I went through. You’ll get it down and life will be good again.

I’ve been using automated car washes for decades, no issues.

Seatbelt extender safely eliminates the seatbelt chime. Just bought one on Amazon a couple weeks ago, around $20

Lol nice attempted deflection. The person I replied to made a massively arrogant comment. I pointed that out.
Stop trying to stir up further drama.
