Car won’t start

Hi all,
I have a likely significant issue with my truck I’m hoping to get a better idea of what I should look for before beginning. Soo my truck has been stationary for quite awhile, I was busy replacing the ECT, which ballooned into more repairs..then I did a ton of bodywork.. then when I was almost finished some nice person stole my catalytic converter.. anyways the truck has been sitting for a solid minute.
I somehow didn’t check the fluids before taking it for a long drive.. I was on the highway and the engine started knocking (I stupidly thought a bolt had come loose or something and drove it for another couple miles before the engine just cut out and I pulled over and called AAA for a tow. Back at my place I checked the oil and it was waaayy at the bottom of the dipstick and dark black. Now when I go to start the truck it sounds like this:

I’m pretty sure it could be a number of things..I think it has something to do with fuel not getting to the engine properly or combusting properly. If someone could suggest a progression of troubleshooting for this issue I would be very grateful. I have an OBD2 scanner from autel, multimeter, etc

How long has it been sitting. 5 days, 5 months, 5 yrs. It’s pretty hard to help with a 4 sec video and no info.
It’s not firing and started knocking while driving and quit. I say water in the gas. Good luck.

 

Did you not get a low oil warning? Are there any current codes?

 

It doesn’t sound like the engine is turning over very fast.
Is the battery full charged and good?

Also, check the following.
Any codes (check engine lights)
Does the check engine light come on when you first turn the key on and then go off?
Have sprayed just a bit of starting fluid into the intake to see if it will fire?

 

It almost sounds like an engine cranking with the spark plugs removed or very low compression.

 

I’m about to head home and I’ll pull codes.. it wasn’t coming up with anything previously.. I also have live data I can look at.. any thoughts on what I’d look for?
I’m also going to pick up some starter fluid before I head home and try what you said.. I spray it into where the intake manifold attaches?

 

Remove the air intake hose and spray it in the throttle body. Just a puff will do.
It helps to have a buddy cranking when you spray it. But if you spray it and crank it fast enough 1 man can do it. You may need to keep the MAF sensor plugged on. So just move the intake hose out of the way.

I don’t like like spraying anything in to the air intake (where the air filter is).
As this can coat the MAF sensor in starting fluid and “potentially” cause issues.

 

Just watched the video once again and especially watching the tachometer . Paying close attention to the tach I noticed no rpm signal being shown . With both the extremely noticeable weak compression sound when attempting to start the engine and loss of rpm signal you've got major engine damage

With no oil shown on the dipstick I would suspect you put a rod or two thru the block or oil pan .

 

Take the oil cap off, look in there with a light, and see if the timing chain is turning while you have someone crank it.
