And if you guys are wondering. The Original hood is not as heavy as it looks. Note: This is the weight of a non-hood scoop OEM hood.
    CF Hood = 26 lbs.
OEM Non Hood Scoop Hood = 40 lbs.

    Not a chance.

    I live my life a quarter-mile at a time.
For every one of those quarter-mile my hood doesn't fly up into my windshield for not pinning it.........I'm Free. :p

    5. Be careful not the push the hood down too hard. It's thin. very thin.

my fear is bringing the car to shop and the tech cracks the hood

Makes me wonder how it would fare with the blow dry at a carwash.

haven't taken mine in to get official marks on it, but it easily adds at least 3 - 4 stickers worth of HP. That's gotta be easily around 200 more.

    An update:
    * So far, we are still good without hood pin. No sign of latch failing.
    * Traveling 85+ (on a windy day) look stable. Surprisingly minimal ripple effect on the hood.
    * Automatic touchless pressure car wash came out ok. Both the water pressure stage and air pressure drying stage.
Note: Depending on the chemical use, exposing that carbon fiber hood with a strong PH chemical from multiple washes can cause premature clear coat wear on the hood. This also applies to your vehicle's paint.
    * Careful installing the "3rd gen Tacoma Redline Tuning Quicklift Hood Gas Spring kit." Too much pressure, causing the hood to bow in the midsection along the edge. So strong, as soon as you release the hood, it will pop up automatically without you giving it any lift. Tried many different adjustments and still the same result. So I gave up. I might contact Redline and see if there's anything with lower pressure. One thing I love on these gas spring though is the gentle lift it got. Regardless of how light the hood is, it will gently lift it up. Got a good damping system to it.
    * I still don't see any sign of rust occurring on the hood scoop mesh. Been through two rain day and one car wash.

    Recommendations:
    * Clear bra the hood for added protection from UV and rock chip.
    * She's high maintenance:
    - So keep her away from UV exposure, especially hot temperature places like Arizona.
    - Be gentle when closing it. Have as much surface area contact as possible when closing it shut with your hands.
    - Do a weekly check (or whatever is convenient and comfortable to you) on the latch to see if there's any movement to it like an impression of delamination on the latch bond.

    Other Notes:
    * Hood pin it, if you prefer to have "zero" chance of hood flying into your windshield at some point in its life.
The "to hood pin or not" has been debated for years. Essentially, it is completely up to the owner what they are comfortable with. If the aftermarket hood doesn't come with a latch, then obviously hood pin is a must. I am not suggesting one way or the other. You guys decide. I personally chose not to because the current integrity of the latch is still 100%. I might hood pin down the road if there's a sign of delamination.

How much do you think a reasonably good paint shop in the PNW would charge to spray a hood with Cement.....color?

$750 to $1000 for a very quality paint job. I just had my front hood repaired by Seattle Collision Care in Seattle. I had a large dent/scratch on the front, so I had some body work to go along with it, and it cost me just over $900.
