Sorry guys, I got back from a 2 week vacation in Norway a week ago and got fired , so I just started at a new company and things have been a bit hectic to say the least. I'm also a detailer so I work weekends too so its been hard for me to dedicate time to this, but in no way am I putting it to the side. So far I have been running these on my truck for a while without any issues so I feel confident enough to sell them finally. I need to go buy some more material in bulk before I start making them in batches so it may be another month or so before I can get around to it. Mostly because I'm waiting on a paycheck from this new place in order to go buy the materials.

    Waiting impatiently. :D

Making specialized parts for our trucks can be side job too. Some members here are backlogged with 8 months' worth of orders.

Update: I finally have this weekend off, so I'm headed to the composite shop Saturday morning to grab some more material and going to be working most of the day on these. I have 2 center consoles I am planning on finishing up, and still need to finish the passenger side mold for the aprons. I will post pics and updates as I go.

Since the part is not under any stress I just hand-lay. I am still getting the vacuum technique down. I made the mistake of using a mold that was too soft the first time and as soon as the psi went up, the mold folded in half and snapped lol. Making a perfect mold seems to be the secret when making parts from scratch, especially when using a vacuum bag. I thank you all in advance for your patience

so with the vacuum, you can essentially just wrap items big enough to go inside a vacuum bag ?

Pretty much, the whole point to the vacuum is to eliminate air bubbles to make the part stronger. The down side to doing it that way is that it dries with a crinkle finish due to the vacuum bag , so you have to sand it down a bit more, then layer one more coat then sand and then polish. The way I do it, I just sand off the wax surface the resin leaves behind, then I sand it with super fine paper then polish to a shine.

So I had a minor set back over the weekend. I concluded that the mold was not thick enough and had warped from sitting in the garage for a while. I am in process of re-enforcing the backside of the mold to ensure it cannot move of warp at all moving forward. This happened on both sides so this prevented me for layering up a duplicate set like I had hoped to. I was able to make progress on making more flat panels to cut out the front splash guards. And i was able to sand down, bondo, and prep 2 center consoles.

Gonna try to get as much done as I can after work during the week, as I am heading out to AZ for the gun show in Kingman on saturday.

Ok folks, I've been making some good progress on the new molds. I think Ill be ready to start making copies either this weekend or next at the latest. I am going to make 6 sets for sale to start and I know a lot of you have been patiently waiting and some longer than other so I am making a list right now based on a 1st come 1st serve basis.

'On price..... I have been thinking long and hard and decided that I spent waaaay too many hours and too much material $$ to sell the first sets for as low and I wanted to.
I have decided to sell the 1st 6 sets for $200 each ( includes 2 front aprons and 2 rear aprons + Mounting clips ). After I make 6 sets I will be able to determine if that price is breaking even , loosing, or making money. As long as I can make a little bit of profit I will continue to mass produce them. If you have ever bought aftermarket parts out of carbon fiber you know shits not cheap, so $200 for the set is extremely cheap IMO and hopefully I can continue to sell them around that price considering Toyota wants about the same for the stock rubber ones lol.

List will be posted soon, If you respond to me that you are still 100% on board I will keep your spot on the list, anyone who doesn't respond within 5 days will be bumped to the bottom of the list and someone else will be bumped up on the list.
