    Hey northern neighbors!

I'm gonna be swinging up your way next summer and am doing some research on fuel, etc. One thing I read about decent enough is how some gas stations in the Yukon and NWT are "card lock" or "petropass". I looked online, and I know it is an access badge gas station basically. The website makes it sound more like for commercial trucking rather than pax vehicles though.

Can anyone shed some light on the subject for me? Where might I be able to get one, etc?

All the cardlock stations I’ve run into in Alaska and Canada are just remote fuel tank/pump with a card reader. Fairly similar in idea to the old Arco/AM-PM gas stations with the central card terminal from when credit card gas stations first came out.

Ha. Seattle still had those when I lived there a few years ago.

Are the cards universal, or does each "brand" have its own card? Looks like Petro Canada and Petropass are the 2 big ones in CA?

Petro-Pass is for Petro Canada. I have a petro pass card lock card. It works ok. They have an app that helps you see their locations.

I wouldn’t bother with setting this up. There are lots of Gas stations. Just don’t pass on with less than 1/2 tank. Carry a Jerry.

Husky and Chevron are big outfits too with cardlocks if you have your heart set on it.
