I will be helping the parents sell the old (2001) Land Cruiser.

I was surprised to find that people here are weary of showing their license plates on-line.
Therefore, now I feel I should ask: - Is one to be similarly weary of buyers asking for the VIN via e-mail? Any risks in providing a VIN somewhat at random? (I know VINs are esxposed - but so are license plates!

    Also:
I understand that carfax reports are free if one has a carfax account - Would one of you fine account-holding gents be available to provide a report to a fellow TW member?

I figure I'd look to see what is in it since we did not get one when bought back in 2006...

    Thanks!

Heck, I bet there would be quite a few interested potential buyers on this forum. Why not post the information here? I'd like to see a photo if you are willing?

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
The thing is so many shops do not send data to Car Fax like who needs extra paper work.

So what you will find is the times it was bought and sold for the most . It could have been in a flood you never know.

People are strange I hear the covered License plates are just a way to meet local Law enforcement.

    4 run, 2 don't
Just provide your vin, let someone else run a carfax if they so desire.

I have tons of PM's with people's license plate or vin number as I used to have unlimited carfaxes.

Carfax is useless - very unreliable -

Bought a used Corolla in 2003 with 10,000 miles on it -
Dude handed me a carfax that was all nice and clean.

Months later I decided to check it further and the VIN on the carfax was not the same as the car.
They used the number 1 instead of the letter L within the VIN.
Then the state used the number 0 instead of the letter O on the registration.

I got no idea what is up with that thing. Kid still drives it and will drive it into the dirt so I won't have to worry about
any explanations down the road - but I wouldn't trust Carfax for anything.
