Bumped another car in a parking lot a few days ago. No damage to my vehicle. Bent the license plate of the other cars front and maybe some scuff marks. The lady was upset. I get it. Gave her my info. Before I can get home she had called my insurance company. She’ll get her car fixed.

I have no damage and am not filing a claim. No police report that I am aware of.

Since my insurance is taking care of her damage caused by my truck, will this hit Carfax for my truck?

I say no, if it does it would say minor damage. You can always take a photo, document it and explain the issue if you ever sell it. If you trade it in and the dealer questions it, same thing explain it. It's only going to hurt when the dealership tries to make it an issue.

Waiting on a 2020. Supposed to be here first week of December. If anything, I hope it doesn’t affect my trade value.

Maybe it won’t hit Carfax at all or it will take 60-90 days?

What you say sounds logical. Just not sure how Carfax gets their info.

Unless it goes in for a repair it does not get reported to CARFAX. Even then it may not. I had almost 5k in damage on my Chevy when I was re ended. Suprised when I went to trade in and they ran the car fax and it came up clean

Usually insurance is the one to report it. Also dealerships like Toyota will report any damage if they repair in their shop. My local dealer (Toyota) quoted me for a dent in my tailgate and straight out he told me they reported. No insurance involved.

    From Car fax web site:

    * Do CARFAX Vehicle History Reports have information about accidents?
Yes. If an accident has been reported to CARFAX it will be included in the CARFAX Vehicle History Report. CARFAX reports have information about accidents in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Canada. We guarantee we will have information about the most severe accidents, ones for which the states or provinces have issued a branded title. We also have the largest publicly accessible database of less severe accidents which we have compiled from thousands of sources.

I find even that to be widely variable. Had a dent in my C-pillar fixed long ago and nothing is on the Carfax or autocheck.

Trading the truck in soon and I like to be honest with folks. If it’s gonna show, I’ll just tell them. I also don’t want to give them anything to jack me around on a fair trade in value. I didn’t have any damage.
