Have used to charge my hunting dogs' e-collars. Also have used to run a small air compressor. I tried to run my little shop vac on it just for kicks and grins...it ran it about 1/2 speed and sounded really funny.

Damn the roads I run to camping sites would have the meal spilled all over the back of my bed and a broken crockpot.

Not so much. <<coffee machine will use around 300 to 600 watts for 2 cups of coffee and 1000 to 1500 watts for 8-10 cups of coffee. We estimate that an average coffee maker will use 800 watts to produce 4 cups of coffee in 10 minutes.>> Took me a lot of looking (on the internet) but eventually I found an 800w water kettle. Standard, they're 1200w and greater. But I couldn't/wouldn't try to use it on an 400w inverter...

I figure 1 of 2 things might happen trying to draw too much power:

    1. Too much amperage trips fuse
    2. catches fire and taco explodes

It was an option that I thought was really cool and stood out to me while I was browsing the dealerships but I haven't even touched it since I got the truck. Maybe its better to have it just incase I need it rather than not have it when I need it.

I tried a Porter and Cable vacuum (the little one from Costco) and it kept tripping the fuse.

I also use my DA polisher after a wash with it.

It's great for a small flat screen while tailgating at football games. IMG_20161001_125436079_HDR.jpg

Used it today to adjust tire air pressures without pulling out the extension cord from the garage. :)

I've used mine a few times for various needs and I think it's handy to have.

Folks that are using it to tailgate and run fishing lights, those activities last hours. I know it's been asked, but it really wasn't answered, are you running your engine the whole time? From what I remember, the inverter only works when the ignition is on not in accessory. I've turned it on without stating the engine by hitting the start button twice without hitting the brake. Is that what you are doing? Does it force the electrical system off after a certain amount of time like it does in accessory?

If that really works I'm totallly doing that for my next trip to Moab. First night is alway highway driving to campsite. So no worry about it breaking.

I run mine without starting the truck. Turn it to acc. and it will come on. I turn everything else off. I run the TV for 3 + hours usualy. I do crank it up about halfway through and let it run for a few minutes to be sure.

I'll tell you guys this. Last month me and my buddies went to a couple Phish shows in Charleston South Carolina and are used the factory 400 W power inverter are in the back of my truck bed to power 2, 400w, 20inch Mackie speakers with built-in amps along with a mixing board and we set that parking lot on fire with a dance party. All powered through the back of the truck with the engine running
