I was planning to do a move and it will be about 650 miles. I was wondering whats the biggest trailer I can safety tow? I took a look at movers that will move or renting a huge van to do the move, but I still have my truck and two other vehicles I need to drive. We are planning to take even less stuff with us and end up buying new furniture and stuff, but I did kick around the idea to buy a cargo trailer using it for the move and selling it after. I was wondering has anyone use a cargo trailer and how big did you go and was it easy to tow? I never towed anything in my life before.

First does your truck have a tow package? If so your towing capacity is 6700 if not it is 3500. Base it off of those numbers

With my 2015 (with tow package), I was able to tow (easily) a 6x12 UHaul trailer fully loaded. Hardly knew it was back there

2010 Tacoma but i just finished a trip from san diego to norfolk pulling my 8.5x13 tandem axle trailer. it weighed right at 5000 pounds. i had to stay in fourth gear the entire time and got 7.5 miles to the gallon. a brake controller is a must if you are going to do it.

I have a tow package on my truck. Thanks for all the tips. I'll look into a 6x12 or a 6x10 enclosed trailer.

A few years ago a neighbor moved into the area. He bought a horse trailer and moved with that. After he got here he sold the trailer at a profit. A bit of research on your area and the new area might make that idea work for you.
