I don't have this at all and I am using an iPhone 12 pro and 13 pro max and using that air2 play thing that plugs in to make it wireless

yeah, i imagine lots of people aren't seeing the problem. not only that, it's intermittent, and you know how difficult it is to trouble-shoot an intermittent problem with electronics.

Not really a fix, but instead of restarting the truck, try holding down the power button on the radio until it resets. I don’t have CarPlay on my ‘19, but that usually fixes the Bluetooth when it goes buggy.

21 Pro, iphone 11, apple cord, skipping.

So I decided to try applecar play this week and kept skipping.

Never experienced this in my 21 4runner.

Going to take it to dealer on 5k mile service and see if they have any ideas.

i did manage to correct skipping just a couple days ago by following @IndyTac's advice - hold down the power/volume button to reboot the head unit.

I have problems with Carplay constantly and had no idea you could reboot. Great to know! I've been turning the truck off.

I've been having similar issues since I bought my 2021. This has occurred over two different iphones, using spotify, and using official apple cable. Wanted to add another data point to the mix. It's 100% the awful CPU in the headunit. It's so slow and found that restarting the truck is the only solution. For whatever reason it's more laggy than usual on occasional start ups but only seems to affect audio playback in Carplay, normal USB audio is fine. I'll try to turn off a few of the features on Entune and see if that helps. Overall it's frustrating, but not the end of the world. If it keeps happening I'll see if there's an update or any guidance from Toyota at my 10,000 mile service in a few weeks.

Hold the home button and press in the left knob. Hold for a few seconds to restart the head unit. It's not a fix, but its easier than shutting the truck off.

The headunit is junk. I went into setting and turned off every feature and crippled very setting and it's still laggy, when it connects at all. I'm at roughly 60% success connecting over the last 5 months. Carplay was a selling point for me. Huge disappointment.

Ok, so I noticed a while back that when using Waze and Apple Music, the sound and functions would get all in a mess. I used the ole google...and it is an issue with Waze. I stopped using Waze and only use the Apple maps, and I havent noticed the skipping/stuttering music.

Thanks for the tip on this, I'll try it next time it happens. Better than putting more wear on the battery and starter

Something that works for me 90% of the time is plugging my phone in prior to starting the car. The problem is that I forget to do this 90% of the time.

Those wireless Apple CarPlay modules on Amazon are junk. Returned mine not worth all the trouble for ~ $100. If the Taco's JBL system is anything like previous Toyotas, then that's probably junk as well. Glad I didn't pay extra for that nonsense. My truck doesn't have JBL, but every so often it doesn't cleanly go into CarPlay, plugged in or wireless. Conclusion is the stock non-JBL headunit is also junk. What's up with Denso their electronics weren't so crappy in my 2005 4Runner. Meh...

I might go ahead and just buy an aftermarket headunit soon. I never had an issue with Pioneer headunits, so in the very near future I might go that route...
