Carplay works for others but not me

Wondering if anyone had this problem and could help. I’ve made sure everything in settings on my phone is correct. I plug into my phone and it charges but carplay doesn’t come up. Works fine for others though. Any ideas appreciated.

It won’t work if you have Siri disabled. Also you may need to unlock your phone the first time you connect

 

Try holding the mode button on steering wheel for 3 seconds and see if it comes on.

 

mine works fine and I've always had Siri disabled

 

If it works for 999 people and not you, you are the issue.

Have you tried a different cable? My 13 Pro seems to be kind of picky about some of the cables I've used.

 

Are you certain you are plugging into the correct USB port?

 

Do you use a VPN on your phone? If so, try turning it off and see if CarPlay works. ExpressVPN has a setting when enabled, CarPlay won’t work, at least for me.

 

I just realized in the past six months that to see the full album art when my phone is playing Amazon Music I have to tap the carplay icon on the bottom left of the screen.

 

I too run Express VPN, and found that to be the exact problem. The folks at Verizon where I had just upgraded from an IPhone 10 to the 14 (my bad thinking it was the phone, but it was the VPN) didn't have a clue about that, either. Learn something new everyday.
