It's been a very long time since I've "waxed" my 2008 Sport 4x4, and I bought some Carpro Hydro 2 after reading a lot on a bunch of different forums.

I'm going to wash and clay bar the truck before applying the Hydro 2, but want to make sure that what I'm using ahead of the coating won't cause any issues. I'm planning on using Meguiar's Gold Class car wash and Mothers California Gold Clay Bar System (uses Mothers Instant Detailer as the lube).

I've never applied a coating like this, so my question is this: Will either of those two products cause any issues when I apply the Hydro 2?

I just want to make sure I've prepped the surface correctly to help eliminate any problems.

    Thanks.

Those shouldn’t cause any problems but it won’t hurt to do an diluted IPA wipe down after you clay to make sure any residue is gone before you coat. That’s a good idea really when you apply any LSP.

Can't answer your specific question, but I can say that a Nanoskin Autoscrub will make you pretty much forget clay exists.

Depending on the condition of your paint, you may need to do a couple of polishing steps before sealing too.

Those products will not interfere, the only suggestion I'd give on Hydro2 is to stay out of the sun/heat/humidity. Also a little goes a long way especially if you have a pressure washer. You'll get instant feedback as you rinse where it got applied and you'll see how it spreads to other sections as you rinse off.

Definitely be sure to wash your truck well after the clay, and like mentioned above, maybe even wipe down with and ipa mix.

The most important thing with hydro2 is making sure the car is not in the sun and the paint is not hot at all. Not following those rules it will leave streaks.
Mix it at least 6:1, maybe even as thin as 10:1 with distilled water. Make sure the panel is good and wet, then spray on the hydro2 and about 30 second later, spray it off with a strong steam of water. Move your way around the truck one panel at a time. And make sure the panels you already did, stay wet. Then get them from wet to dry as quickly as you can, especially in any kind of heat. I just did my truck the other day and it was hot out, very hot and even though I was working in the shade, it streaked. I had to use a mix of ech20 and reload to get the streaks out.
It seems like a lot but dont be afraid, it's an amazing product and lasts a long time. It doesnt have the gloss and shine of some other sealants but it's still damn good.
Quick tip... using p&s beadmaker on top of hydro2 yields amazing results. I wait a few hours then apply the beadmaker. The next day your truck will he so slick and shiny it will blow your mind. The first time you use beadmaker, go heavy on dry paint, soak the paint and buff out til dry. After that first coat you can use as a drying aid or on a dry truck, just a few sprays per panel.
Can't wait to see your results

To beat the heat (it was still 81 degrees at that time) of the "heatwave" the East Coast is going thru right now, I started at 5:45 am this morning. Washed & clay bared the entire truck including the glass , and then sprayed on the Carpro Hydro2 coating.

This is pretty amazing stuff, and the spray on, spray off application couldn't be any easier. No issues to report. Worked just like it was suppossed to, and the water beads were jumping off of the paint....

So far I'm VERY pleased with the results. This is not my daily driver any longer, so it will be interesting to see how it holds up without having the abuse from road grime67406686_2435952339849676_6117852060391047168_o.jpg . I also bought Beadmaker based on a lot of recommendations form other users of Hydro2, but have not put that on yet.

The beadmaker plays very well when used over hydro2. Your first coat needs to be heavy, almost soaking ever panel then wiping off. If you notice some streaks, use less on the paint and spray down your application towel with some beadmaker. If stillstreaking, use less on paint and more on the towel. The truck will look and feel so good after. Beadmaker needs to be applied every 4-6 weeks. But after that first heavy coat it can be used sparingly or even as a drying aid

Beads up really well. I love carpro stuff. This is hydro2 that is about a months old. I recently wiped the truck down with ech2o, which also has some sio2 in it so it's very shiny and protected. Ech2o doesnt get talked about enough, it's an awesome product.

Yes. It's been on for almost 2 weeks. Definitely improved the gloss.

One thing I noticed so far with having the Hydro2 and Bead Maker is getting bug splatters off of the front of the truck is much easier. I went on a road trip last weekend and the front end was a mess. The trip home was after midnight, so I the bugs were thick. On Saturday I was washing the wifes car and I took a damp microfiber towel and wiped off the front end. Holey cow, the bug splatter came off with almost no effort.
