You have to make a piece of metal for it to hold the bushing and bearing assembly in place then make holes for it, the spacer looks great, but just make sure it keeps your driveline relatively straight. If it's too out of angle it will vibrate like crazy while driving the truck.

Yeah i have a piece (see black piece at bottom in photo) but i wanna use a thicker piece of metal which i can fab. I think it’s just about getting the spacer right between the factory mounting point and where that bar will be and getting some longer bolts

This is how i have my ford ranger IEDLS CB setup. Flat stock piece of AL to hold everything together, some spacers, and longer bolts

Just what you said. That's exactly what you need to do is get the spacing right, but most people cannot run it like I do with the carrier bearing open end facing upward.

I run 1/8" thick flat stock on the open end and run nearly 400HP through my otherwise OE driveline. Anything over that is overkill and not necessary honestly unless you already have it lying around.

    Just the basics
Found this thread and interested in possibly going this route. I'm on my 2nd CB and it is time to replace it once again.

I put my iedls in about 3 years ago now. Still going strong after roasting an or replacement once per year for a little while.

Edit: I was running it the other way around bolted straight to the stock location, but just recently flipped it around for more clearance.

I am sitting under my truck right now just checking stuff when I saw a notification for this thread and thought I would post a picture haha

It's been running perfectly smooth. I have vibrations, but they are from wonky driveline angles, not the cb

Have the parts and just haven't gotten around to doing this yet, but curious for those who have done it what length spacers you ended up with?

Thanks, the 1/8 was exactly what I was thinking. I can probably get everything together, set the height of of the driveshaft with a screw jack and then cut the spacers as needed based on that. This stock CB carrier is so sloppy for only 36k with no offroad use.

I'm getting a 2005 Prerunner DCLB soon. I've read this entire thread. There are a lot of posts about correct driveline angles but no actual angles have been posted. It'd be nice to know specific angles of specific parts of specific trucks with specific lifts that specifically work with no specific vibrations (specifically speaking of course).

    Yikes, lol.

No kidding. After about 40-50K my carrier bearing was so sloppy I could take it and move it up and down and notice at least a half inch of slop before it stopped moving. My driveline vibes were horrible at takeoff. Of course I wheeled a lot then, even after replacing it I wheeled it incredibly hard, but now it is not giving, so that is a testament of it's quality and longevity to me.

Do you want to know why no specific angles are posted, it's because no two setups even if they are the same model truck will EVER be the same. Variations will still exist across both models which will cause the angles to require different heights. Angles outside of a half degree of tolerance will cause vibes. So you can either eyeball your setup and quickly see what is straight and what is not or you can use the Tremec driveline angle calculator app. Either way, it's an experimental game with the heights. There's just no way around it. When going custom, you are crossing uncharted waters, especially when it comes to measurements and angles. Which makes any posted angles, redundant.

It's just a chunk of 1" round tube I had in the scrap bin that I cut two small pieces from. Nothing magical.

Bullshit. Production tolerances discount every single thing you wrote. That's why a person can put a 2006 Tacoma dash into a 2005, because the two dashes are exactly the same. Same goes for leaf springs, struts, and every other part on the truck that were originally built with identical tolerances and design. Sure variances in wear and tear will come along with age but the original tolerances will never change. Same thing for the aftermarket companies, whether their pumping out cheap cast blocks or expensive leaf springs each part is exactly the same as the rest of the same part they make.

People have been modifying trucks ever since trucks have been built so I don't have a clue what you're referring to about uncharted waters. I could be mistaken but I think this is the 2nd gen area of the forum, a very played out gen with lots of past successes.

So yeah a guy wanting to know the successful set up of a 2007 Tacoma DCLB, including driveline angles, for his near identical 2005 Tacoma DCLB is completely relevant. Details of how those angles were achieved would be very helpful.

Everybody loves an astronaut so go ahead and seek out the unknown with things like springs, blocks, and other pieces of metal that have known dimensions and characteristics.

Whatever, it doesn't really matter lmao...
