I installed a new carrier bearing on my 07 tacoma and drove it. I smelled burning rubber and I went to go look at my carrier bearing the rubber bushing was melted. What happened? IMG_6348.jpgIMG_6346.jpg

I believe it’s directional, and those notches go to the front

    All stock, baby!
To melt that rubber, you’d have to build up a lot of heat. That would imply that the bearing is seized up and spinning within the rubber. It will need to come out of there, but I wouldn’t suggest reusing it.
