Someone who thinks that whatever product they own (be it a car, truck, gun, etc) is better than all others and refuse to listen to logic or proof otherwise.

Well, that actually makes sense. How many of us buy what we think is second or third best? And as far as saying we don't listen, eh probably. My wife would agree with that.

I certainly have my preferences of what I will and will not own, but looking in my safe I have Browning, Beretta, Colt, Cooper, CZ, Freedom Arms, Glock, Husqvarna, Kimber, Marlin, Remington, Ruger, Sako, Sig, Springfield-Armory, S&W, Walther, Winchester and maybe one or two I'm overlooking, but I'm always open to try something new.

Well, like they say, "There's strength in diversity". Just kidding kodiakisland. You have a very impressive collection of brands. I don't believe I see a weak sister in the entire list.

I'd rather just use a holster in that case, keeping the trigger covered is far better than using a safety.

Keeping a gun off the body is a whole nother debate, but because kids can have access to them, I prefer the holster and safety if that is what someone is going to do.

I just put my deposit on a Kimber Micro 9 crimson carry they had on order. It's compact and will conceal better than my HK compact. I also signed up for a new membership at the local sportsman club to put rounds through it to get comfortable and accurate.

I have been carrying and shooting in IDPA a Ruger SR9c as a lefty and it is ambidextrous. Recently purchased a Concealment Express kydex IWB holster for it and I find it thinner and lighter than the very simple leather small of the back holster I used. Good retention. The SR9c is incredibly accurate for its short barrel length and the back up mag is 17 rds.

Start with finding a gun that is small enough, but fits your hand well. Next, start thinking about leather. One configuration that I would recommend is a Sig P239 with a Crossbreed Supertuck.

I'm a lanky individual at 6'1'' weighing a hefty 130, and I found that a Springfield XDS in .45ACP is perfect, and doesn't print when I carry it. I carry 6+1.

I carry the ruger LCP, in pocket. It's hardly noticeable, especially wearing shorts. I would imagine the op being from Florida, shorts would be worn most of the time. If the gun is easy to carry the more chance u will actually wear it. It always comes down to the one time you didn't want to carry a cumbersome gun and that's when you'll wish you had. You can place a small piece of painters tape over the end of the barrel to keep out pocket lint unless your using a sticky sided pocket holster.

I'm 6'1" just north of 200 so it's fairly easy to make the S&W Shield disappear, it's a 9, I run 124 Fed efmj or 127 Win sxt in it. I carry it using a couple different Desantis holsters, summertime or I want to burry it I use the Nemesis pocket (you'd be surprised by all the stuff you get in the front pocket of a pair a "tactical" Carhartts) otherwise I have their leather iwb holster.

Got the Shield because it's not as freakin heavy as my full size 1911, and that gun has a crapton of miles on it so it deserves a vacation. (It still gets shot, cause it's dang accurate and fun)

Another Clint Smith quote: "How do you win a gun fight? Don't get in one." or "Why do I carry a pistol?" "To fight my way to my rifle."

You might want to consider the Ruger LC9s for a 9mm. Not as heavy as some of the other 9mm handguns but heavy enough so that recoil is not much of an issue. I choose that over the Glock 43 for weight reasons.
In .380, the Glock 42 is not as light as the Ruger LCP but is easy to shoot and the sights are better if you might be shooting at 20 or more yards.
The LCP conceals easier in the front pocket or with a belt clip than the 43 so it makes it hard to leave at home no matter what you're wearing-especially in the summer with very lightweight clothes.
    Hope that this helps.

I really like the LCP and wondered what is the difference in that and the LCP Custom? I might have to trade in for the Custom.
    Thanks
