I don't see anything about the 168 dollar starter being for start/stop.

Heard it was a much faster starter than w/o tech.
Hell. in 2000 the first Insight didn't even use a starter, was an iduction ring.
I know my truck would spin at least 2 seconds every start. There will be lag as they age.

Now, I do realize this is all stop gap. We'll be electric trucks by 2025 (not across board but going that way)

My niece had a loaded Lexus that she drove the shit out of. The tech didn't age well and it frequented the shop.

It was a 3.5L. and she traded in with problems.

My 2019 Fusion turns off when stopped

I dont even notice it turning on and off plus with it being a hybrid the electric motor provides instant torque when I start moving

I feel like it actually has less lag on take off

With that said...it also has the adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and other stuff that make drivers feel like they can be less attentive which worried me

It's for the 2.7L ecoboost. They all have auto stop/start.

And my brother in law has had an unreliable 3rd gen 4Runner AND an unreliable Honda Accord. Everyone knows someone who had a Brand X that was a piece of shit. Old Toyota 4X4's are my jam but I have no loyalty when it comes to the new stuff.

Woman's cherokee has it. I don't much care for it. But i almost never drive it. The switch is easy to push or you can but a thing that blugs into the odb port that permantly turns it off.. Well.. At least until you unplug it

without specifically saying for start/stop tech, I'm sticking to what I've heard. Thousand dollar starters.
I know all brands have expensive tech. that doesn't age well, I'm not being anti-Toyota, just saying more farkles, less reliability.
Also know you can't stop it. Drive by wire on a motorcycle sounds stupid and some were atrotious in use. They're all using now just so Ricky Racer going down the Blvd. can feel like he could turn like Marc Marquez......if he could find a sweeper.

Stick with the hearsay that you heard despite evidence to the contrary and if I need a thousand-dollar starter (available online for $186.00) I'll let you know, but I'm not worried about it because the last time a starter in a vehicle failed on me Bill Clinton was the president.

First experience with this was also in Germany on a BMW SUV, all of us in the car at the time thought the car stalled, got used to it after a while, still annoying tho

So - lead acid batteries are good for how many starts? Seems like I've heard forever that there is a lifetime number of starts they are good for. A day that has twenty total starts on a trip to work and back - how long will it last?

My 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid did that. I thought it was a feature of the Hybrid system originally, then I learned it's a pretty common feature.

I don't really understand how that happened, I've driven hundreds of miles on Autopilot and it makes you apply pressure to the wheel at a random interval (Anywhere from 10 seconds to 5 minutes). It'll flash and beep at you till you do what it says, if you don't it'll disengage Autopilot and slowly come to a stop.

I was wondering that too, I didn't know about that feature but I assumed they had to have something in place to keep people from just putting autopilot on and completely zoning out.

There was a glitch from older Tesla firmware that allowed you to shove Oranges into the steering wheel and it would detect that as holding the wheel. They must've changed it from capacitive resistance to physical force, because you obviously can't do that anymore.
