Carvana is picking up my Taco on Tuesday...the deal was just too stupid good to pass up. I have a beater car for the coming Winter and next Fall (hopefully) my Tri-motored Cyber Truck should be shipping. Or not.

Anyway, I can always pick up another truck if I have to. As you can see, I paid $25,538 for the Taco and Carvana is giving me a check for $24,764. Bought the truck in November, 2018 and have over 17,000 miles on it. Pretty basic SR AC 4x4 w/2.7

I drove the passport when we were looking for a dog hauler for the wife. I think if I’m ever looking for another commuter, that’s gonna be it.

I love my Tacoma. It's a great truck, but that doesn't mean it's perfect. Also what's a strength of one truck might be a weakness in the mind of someone else. Especially if their needs change.
Tacomas sell very well, they have tremendous resale as we see. There's no reason to be defensive about owning, buying, or selling a Tacoma.

If we were going on and on in separate threads about how X vehicle is better than Y vehicle and what lift and wheels are best for Brand X instead of Brand Y, I could see a reason to be upset. But in a thread discussing selling a Tacoma, the idea that discussions about possible alternatives to buy after selling a Tacoma shouldn't be considered offensive.

Oh, and I got a Carmax offer today. $27k. Carvana is at $30,100 so fair difference.

Carvana now has 139 third gen Tacoma DoubleCabs for sale on their site with under 50k mileage. Cheapest one listed for over $30k.
They have 1174 total pickups for sale (all brands).

Is any of this really sustainable? The most i'd pay for a 2nd gen would be 24-25k and it better be low miles and stock

Carvana is scheduled to pick my truck up Tuesday, 29,996 for a 2017 DCLB SR5. Honestly, this is painful, but life needs have changed. Buying a travel trailer as a compromise with my non-camping wife so I can get back into the woods where I belong. Lol.

While the Tacoma technically has the capacity we need, I don’t like towing near the limits. Got a stupid deal on a 2020 ram 1500, 5.7 with their E torque mild hybrid system and 3.92 gears. I could probably tow my house. for everyone who has driven a Tacoma for ten years, Do Not drive a ram. That progressive coil suspension front and rear is smoother than a truck should ever be.

First time in ten years I won’t have a taco but I’m a big believer in using the right tool for the job. I’ll be back in 15 years when the kids are gone and we can downsize to a 2 person trailer.

I wonder what Carvana will pay for a used new Bronco once they are available and people want to get rid of them?

They wouldn't be buying them if they don't think they can sell them. I'm tracking the counts of 2016-2020 models and they went from 139 to 136 just today.
Lowest priced 4WD they have is an SR5 listed at $34,590 with over 30k miles.

I guess the real question is whether this is a short-term peak or if they'll be paying reasonably high prices for the next couple months.
According to that earlier video, other cars will be plentiful in 6 months. Makes you wonder how much that will affect trade in values for Tacomas at that point.

Can't answer but I will tell you that local Ford and GMC truck dealers have plenty of trucks in stock with crazy rebates and low financing. Carvana has created a sort of arbitrage situation in that you can get top $$ for your Taco and buy a full size without too much out of pocket. Local Ford dealer has F-150 4x4 w/ 2.7 ecoboost trucks on the lot for $32k ish...2wd is $29k w/limited slip and trailer tow package. All are pretty basic regular cab XLs but a lot of capability in those F-150s

Carvana offered me 18,5xx for my 2013 DCSB, 101k miles, auto v6, Trd sport 2wd. I think this is too low, if it was 21-22, I’d say hell, come take it
