I was looking for a car on Craigslist. And I see it's a carvana car. Now, this happens to be a car that had a huge recall, and many went back to get "fixed" for years. The first thing I pulled up out of habit, was it's basic history. Was in the news for a good while.

I want to be vague enough, just because I am baiting. But not sure on what.

Car was bought/leased in 2014, then had to be bought back. Recorded miles of sub 30k. About a good car generation later, the car comes back. Same miles. No info for years, shows up supposedly in my state, with 60k more on the clock, without any sales to the public. What is going on?

Going by the dates it could suggest that assuming said dealer tried to unload it as fast as possible and couldn't, makes sense.

Maybe, it was just the dealers car for years, that would make sense, but this dealer... doesn't... maybe?

At one point it then passed to something that is N/A (N/A is in the same state I do know this) to me for substantially less than they were asking... It then looks like it bounced around the same places in the same area. I looked into said locations all indicate are connected or owned by the same entity. The last records are from... many years ago. Between the time of the car coming back, bouncing around 1 state, then disappearing, all happened within 3 months.

It is now for sale much further away from it's 2nd origin state, with over 50k more miles on the odometer. Not a typo, can even be seen in the photo.

What is going on behind what I can pull? It's rare I'm roadblocked this hard. Could someone crashed it, had it repaired at "NA", then sent it essentially lot to lot for a few months, before disappearing as far as private sales go for years, then finally kicking it to Carvana. To add to the confusion, each "sale" swings about 25% of the cars value. And the best part is, it's now listed for substantially higher than it was listed for ever in it's entire history. (I'm sure there's a Carvana cut, but it can't be that much...)

Does anyone have any better information than I can find? It's rare I'm not able to pull up anything on a vehicle. And it looks like it just rolled off the line, hardly looks like a beat company car.

I'm more curious than anything. Mostly, what am I missing, and 2nd, (not that I've bought a car from carvana but in my mind I would think of it as used car not any warranty type)

    1. If it was a company car, why is it not beat to piss? Because it should be. I would
    2. Odd choice given what they could have, to pick for a daily if the dealer decided to use it as a DD.
    3. Family / Kids don't make a lot of sense to me, why bother putting it on Carvana then? This isn't a sought after car, they are all over, I can't see any incentive.
4 Even if it was a CPO, it's still has plenty of time.

The only thing that makes sense to me, is that someone had it for quite some time, then with a good leeway of CPO, knowingly sold it assuming mad issues down the line, and is trying to fuck someone over.
