Antenna got ripped off. They were cool enough to hand it back to me.

Never gone through an automatic car wash. Heck I’ve never even washed my truck in over 9 years now period.

    it’s a truck….

Happened to me recently too. Mine was the OEM mirror as well (I know this because I bought the truck new in 2009). I think that over time the sunlight weakens the plastic. In my case, the folding action of the mirror didn't help because the thing was spinning the opposite way (towards the front of the truck). Mine broke even closer into the vehicle.
Also, pro tip for the rest of you....the painted TRD Sport mirrors cannot be bought brand new. You have to get one and then paint it. The carwash will blow a gasket when they see that price. Mine opted to buy a used speedway blue mirror off ebay which I thought was just dandy. All good again. :)

For you folks who park your trucks outside most of the time, consider using something like 303 Aerospace on all molded non-painted parts (windshield cowl, bed caps, mirror mounts, mud flaps, antenna bases, rubber glass moldings, etc). Yes these surfaces typically have UV blockers in them when factory new, but constant sunlight exposure oxidizes everything and that can weaken them over time.

Definitely good advice. That said, my truck is 12.5 years old with 190k miles. It's too late for me, save yourself.

It suck! This just happened to me this morning. I have had a membership for at least 10 years with all of my vehicles. I’ve had my Tacoma for over a year and my mirrors had folded in in the past, no big deal I just push them right out. But this time I heard a loud pop and it just ripped it right off. Left my mirror dangling and it scratched up my door pretty bad. Did they find a solution for you? They told me it would take 5days for them to investigate and claims dept would get back to me. I am so bummed.

Almost me too. I probably washed my F150 a total of 4 times since I bought it in 2011. Last time was a drive-through wash and it ripped off my 3rd brake light. Oh well....

This thread validates my decision to not use the carwash ;)

There is no touchless where I live or I might do it once/awhile

Oddly enough, I accept that the Tacoma is a truck and that it will get dinged/dented/sh!t gonna happen to it and I am cool with that, but the car wash damage seems totally avoidable - so I avoid it totally -

I wash it about once a month when it is good and crusty
