The bolts can be anywhere in the rails. The rails you mount the tent too need to be just a bit less wide then the tent.

thanks for the photos, helped alot. I wonder if I should have square tubing welded in instead of tubular. Looks like the mounts work better with yours.

i am getting a square rack too...I think the main thing to consider between round or square is that the maximum width/diameter is 1-1/2"

but the bachelor and shasta are the same tent and same base size...I don't know about the larger models

Remember they are shipping at the end of April. I keep telling myself it will be here sometime mid-May so I am surprised when it gets here before (hopefully)

    Yeah.
I used round tubing to build my rack, and in hindsight the square stuff would have been easier to work with. I think round looks better, though. I forget what size tubing I used, doh! Must be getting old, hopefully I don't forget where I parked the tent when I go camping.

As far as mounts, I will probably hit the local big box hardware store for some ideas -- there's nothing really fancy about the mounting system, and some kind of curved clamp should work better on round. That siad, the included system is designed for roof racks that are typically round or oval, so it should be fine.

Placed my order with Bobby for a Shasta. Those of you still on the fence, jump on this ASAP!

Anyone in the San Diego area, call up Bobby and place your order to be shipped out with the rest of the orders to Poway (Pelfrebilt Fabrication). We will save tons on shipping, get the word out!

    Yeah.
I bought a cheap Harbor Freight bender, and it worked great at "bending" the tubing. However, it wouldn't "curve" the tubing, so I changed my design to eliminate any bending.

If I did it again, I would probably do square.

Anyone have trouble getting someone on the phone when you called? I've called 3 times over the last 2 days, and it just rings and rings and rings and then goes to answering machine/voicemail. Guess I'll give it a shot again tomorrow

No...I'm notorious for not leaving messages, I hate talking to machines.

And yes, put me on your list for MT meets, if you guys have 1 while I'm up that way I'm sure I could be convinced to put my fly rod down for a few days.
