Who is our "vendor expert" for this GB? I have 1-2 questions/concerns, but quite interested.

mainly will it want to "lift" and start a stress crack where it mounts? i plan to start camping above the treeline on my expeditions i have planned so there is no real protection from wind gusts

do the tents "lock" open or is there any chance of it closing on itself and bending poles and such?

I'm not worried about weight, this thing has held a few of us standing on it, more about the overhang.

    okay..i guess me? haha

They do no lock. But you lay on it so no, the chance of it folding up on you is pretty much not going to happy. It also has plenty of weight to it for when your not in it. the joint itself it aluminum so no realy stress cracks..

Mine has done great in windy situations. I have the shasta and the only thing you have to tie down is the main ropes that hold the over hang down. I usually just use firewood and it works great.

    So..what are you asking??

The full over hang is supported by the ladder..which is very sturdy.

They are back to the good old slide ladders after trying to switch to some expandable ladders which were smaller and lighter. But they wouldn't stay expanded. So imagine sleepign in it without a full support on the over hang  i did that for about 9 nights. Now with the new "older" style lader that just slides..ROCK solid. Love it.

But it will overhang about 6" on each side closed, and obviously a bit more on the passenger side when open. I guess I'm asking do these require a full floor with full support under the tent or can the tent itself overhang both closed and open. The best I have is 36" wide...and I'm putting a 48" wide tent on there.

Blackdawg do you have a picture of how these mount? I currently just have 1.5" Dia hoops. Not sure if I'll need to add or mod anything. I play to weld in side supports though.

Here guys, this will help easy your pain.

you do not need to have the tent mounted all the way.

1.5'' Is the largest size tubing you can run. That what i have i

As long as the rails are bolted down, you are fine. Mine only contacts my rack in 4 places on the tubing.

Did you call them again yet? could ask them..:D haha

Why doesn't someone open a business/ get a business license. Then every time theres a "group buy" we can just get everyones money together, get it to 1 trusted business owner and have them order in bulk at the dealers pricing. Which is normally better than what these companys are offering us anyways. Then we all bennefit from the inexpensiver price...

A business license is ~$170 with tax id, registration, and all. Have owned a few businesses in the past that I have built and sold over the years. Normally these companys want a Brick n Mortar (store front) - which I dont have.

    But I could...

I think this would take a little more thought from other members on that. I could open a website for sales and a TW code would get the item at cost plus shipping.

Isn't that how we are doing this? When we have 10+ people, call the company, tell them the GB code, and they give us the price. How else would this work?

So right now, the company selling the item is the manufacturer too. Normally they have "resellers" that also sell their items. Think ARB - theres ARB USA then all the other businesses that order them at a dealer price and resell them right?

Ok so heres how it works, they are giving us a 20% discount, and still profiting off of us. With a dealer price, depending on the items and quantity ordered, theres normally a 60%-30% markup.
if its a $100 retail item, dealer cost (wholesale) on it is anywhere from $40-$70 so they can still make a profit off of it.

Would still be similar, but hopefully the pricing would be substantially less for the greater good. Also, the more of a product a business purchases, the better discount bracket they get into. So after the initial order, the business would be locked in at the price they got them for or less for future orders of smaller quantity.
