I wish i could have thought that far ahead. That is very organized. This little journey has taken a couple of twists and turns along the way. It is getting on track now though (I hope)

Well, Ive owned 3 tacomas, one 2nd gen, and 2 3rd gens. Sold the 05 or, bought a 16, totaled it before i could afford to to mod it, and then bought the 18, and did my stuff to it because i can kinda afford it now.

So after all that time I know that if I wait, itll never get done. I also was heavily involved in firearms as a hobby, now ive kinda backed off that. The next gun I buy will be an SR25, then ill be done for along time

Oh it's field dressed and hanging the garage. Sucked trying to lift it into the 4wlr. I'll get up in the morning , skin it, debone it, then figure out how I want to process it. I'll probably wrap a cople of roasts and the loins and grind the rest. I ought ot kill another just to ake jerky out of but that's qite a bit of work

Guns for me tend to be tools. I love my primary rifle now but it's a pretty gun and I am always scared of scratching it. The little fucker is fun to shoot and where i put the cross hairs is where it hits. i have some antiques, a couple of collector guns, but mostly hunting tools. Archery was aways more my gig really

Yeah I do to that's the problem. It's a hell of alot of work for not near as much yield as you would think. I used to average 7-8 deer a year. I'd usually put up about 150lbs of burger, 70 lbs of sausage, and the rest was steaks and roasts except the last deer I would make into jerky or meat sticks. Growing up deer and sometimes bear was about all my girls had for red meat. Last couple of years, especially with the girls pretty much gone now, I just haven't been too worried about it.

That's what I was talking about. I may be a bit rusty, but I used to average about an hour per deer to get it butchered. One of the blessings of growing up with a father who was raised in slaughter houses...

Oh I know the work that goes into it. Sad thing for me is I haven't been out since the kiddo was born. Her pawpaw on mom's side keeps wanting me to go with him (we still have a really good relationship). We went crappie fishing a bunch last spring. That stuff was our thing. I miss getting in the woods and getting a deer. Kiddo went rabbit hunting with me a year or so ago with me we got a bunch for the stew pot. For a few yrs. me and some buddies got together and did Hunter's for the Hungry food drives and hunted NC, SC, VA, and TN. We would only keep a couple for ourselves and the rest would go to food banks via hunter's for the hungry. They loved us since we would end up donating about 10 deer ea. if not more. I loved being able to give back in that manner rather than going and buying a bunch of canned goods to donate.

Build your own large frame AR. I built a few the nicest one is out of an Aero Precision enhanced receiver set. It is actually better than the SR yet cost less. I am big into firearms like @Casper66 most all the ones I have I view as tools of sorts.

LOL yeah I'm not that quick. It'll take me most of they day but I'm not hurrying. It'll take me an hour to skin it and debone it. I think the most I ever did here was 3 in a day, a long day. I used to have cable tv in the garage so i could sit and work on deer and watch tv but that's been gone for a while.

Im telling you, you are entitled to your opinion.

But an Sr25 ECC in 14.5 with a mams is the best available 308 gun made. The problem with 308 receivers is the parts are not all compatible, like the lower receivers will not all accept the same mags. As someone who has owned an aero, I will not again. Not bagging on them, but I do not believe for a second they are anywhere close to a Knights. The Sr25 is the standard by which all others in the 308 game are judged.

Why would you want a .308 w/ a 14.5" barrel? My aero takes either SR25 or DPMS pattern mags. Knights just has the clout of military contract but there are many others out there that are just as good if not better.

Pawpaw was a meat cutter. he apparently didn't pass those talents down to me. Either that or I'm just too picky
