In your instance yes for you that is more practical. The bars I have are not a headache rack they are bars that go from side to side across the bed.

Good mornig! These posts will run out as I only have but so much to tell about the truck. This one is funny, frustrating, maddening, and sad but led to me purchasing something I should have bought anyway and don't regret.
I keep getting asked what's up with all the paint in my truck bed? Well, last year my wife had been helping clean and clear some stuff out of the shead and garage and we had accumulated several cans of paint. She set them out with the tops off to dry as the dump won't accept them in the liquid form. They sat and dried for a couple of weeks and the day before we left for the beach she said they were dry and coud I take them when I took the trash to the dump, sure. A bag was set in the bed with the paint cans in it while I went to get the other trash together and when I came back it had fallen over and one of the cans we thought was dry apparently only had a dry skim over the top of it. Well, it had run all over that side of the bed and I thought oh well it's latex so I immediately backed the truck over to the woods and grabbed the garden hose to wash it out. Oops! it was oilbase and all I managed to do was splatter it all over the bed. F'k that sucked!
To those who may say what was she thinking. My beautiful wife jumped up into the truck with no regard to herself with towels and paper towels and cleaned up everything she could with out concern for gloves or protecting her rings or anything. This meant alot to me especially as I was recovering from my initial shoulder surgery and she did the absolute best she could.
I parked the truck in the garage for the week while we were at the beach. I was trying to figure out how to remedy this either a way to clean it or replace the bed. I was not leaving my relatively new to me truck looking like this. I went and talked to the detailer at the dealership to see if they had run into this problem. With my background in autobody I knew chemicals that would remove it but with the composite bed I was concerned with how it would react.
The Fix: I ended up powerwashing everything I could out of the bed and the splatters off the body. I sprayed the bed sides with some satin black spray paint. I then installed an OEM Toyota bed mat. It was either all gone or hidden under the mat and all good again. WOOHOO! Love the bed mat and should have bought one anyway as now nothing slides around in the bed.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Yea I hate that.
School is over. Tceq is cracking down on backflows. But I'm good for 3 more years.
Loading up truck and going to moms. She's getting runaround from insurance. Going to sign for a attic cleanout. And making a bigger exterior access hole.

New ditch lites arrived today from Cali raised with a wiring harness. Now the debate: the lights and harness came with deutsch connectors so do I cut the connectors from the lights and spice on to existing harness and use new harness for installing fog lights or remove the current harness and use the new one for the ditch lights and the old one for the fogs. IDk if it makes a diffeence but I'm thinking use the caliraised harness with their lights and leave the connectors in tact

After unpacking everything and looking at the harness I deided to use it with their lights.I removed the ones I;d been using and applied the amber film then mounted them in the frront bumper and rerouted the harness to the bumper.

I've had family things going on but started on them this evening. Be patient this will probably take me most of the week as I'm having to do it with 1 hand, just had shoulder surgery. I got them mounted with my wife's help and started running the wires.
