Tngue exstension and Lock n Roll:

So last weekend I stripped everything off the tongue and we moved it into the garage

During the week I got the new cross member cut, fitted, and tacked in place.

Thursday I got the correct tube to extend the tongue with so I inserted the Lock n Roll hitch end and welded it all together. It was welded solid on the end and I drilled 2 holes in the top and bottom of the tube and plug welded.

I decided against just but welding the tube to the cross member so I cut a square hole in the cross member to slip the tube through so it could be fully welded on the bac side and welded on the front side also. The cross member was welded in completely. The new tongue was then put in place, plumbed, squared and tacked in place.

I fabbed up plates and capped the end of the frame and welded everything solid including the tube going through the cross member and the tube was capped.

The weld on ring for the tongue jack was installed

I cleaned it up and hit the bare spots with etching primer and sprayed with DIY bedliner.

Tomorrow will be extending the wiring harness then on to planning the next phase the box for the fridge and storage

Finished it up today. I got out and started working on it thinking all I had left was extending the wires. As I was doing so, it dawned on me that the safety chains would no longer reach either so i had to come up with a plan for that.
I cut the mount off for the chains. I had a piece of 7/16 or 3/8 bar on hand so I shaped it like I wanted and cut away the excess. I placed it and welded it under the tongue and it was secure, but me being me, I was affraid if it got hit it could bend so I cut a couple of gussets and installed them. Everything welded solid. That's kinda what I enjoy about this stuff, I can make stuff and if I change my mind or have a better idea I can just cut it off and do something different.

And done wires all run and secured, I drilled holes in the tongue and frame plates, tapped the holes for 1/4" bolts and clamped with insulated clamps

Ha! she came pre-extended. I thought I was all done but I need a different connector to be able to hook the +12v wire up to the battery from the truck.

There should be a +12V (to power your fridge, I assume) in your 7-way as well as ground.

The camper only originally came with a 4 way flat connector. I converted to a round 7 pin and added a hot wire from the vehicle to the battery so it charges the battery while it's connected to the vehicle. While I didn't have an issue with using heat shrinked butt splices to extend the light wires I ran a whole new 10ga wire to feed the battery. I just didn't have a connector the rt size to fit the battery accessory post. It's all hooked up now.

Picked up 40' of 1x1x1/8" angle, 2 full sheets of 16ga sheet metal, 8' of 2" square tubing and 2' of 3/16 x 6" plate. A couple of decent projects it should be a busy weekend.

I got a start on one tonight I just dreamed this up today---- sneak peak

Oh I just dreamed up this idea today sitting 20' feet in the air grinding fiberglass. You'll see when it's done I aint sayin in case i fuck it up and have to change directions. It will help offset some of the weight going on the tongue and I'm gonna add a little something for the wife
