Nice! Glad y'all had a successful camping weekend. Looks as if all the work on the trailer was worth all the time & effort. Congrats brother! Have a great "off the grid" trip next weekend!

Thanks Bill! It was a relief seeing everything working like it should. I did finally figure out how to connect my phone to the solar charge controller also. We didn’t use it this weekend I figured it would be hot so camped where I could use the ac. We can’t use it when on battery power

    Flag Pole Knob:

So we finally did it! All the pieces came together and we headed out away from the campgrounds. Our friend @Wild Crow and his lovely wife invited us to tag along on a trip with them. We left and went out Rte 33 to the other side of Harrisonburg and turned left on Skidmore Rd. James had suggested this way as in the past he'd found it a pretty easy route, not so much for us this time. With all the rain we've had there were lots of washouts, mud, an rocks. Downed trees also we had to cut out of the trail before we could make it through. Some of you may be laughing at me saying this was difficult. First I haven't been off roading in quite a long time other than some stuff around here. Second all the rain made everything pretty slick. Third, if it would have just been us in our trucks it wouldn't have been bad now add pulling campers up through there, it made it challenging even for someone experienced like James.
What a blast we had! We made it all the way to the top. As soon as we got there it started to downpour on us. I got out to check things and discovered one of the front stabalizers had been ripped off and was barely hanging on. I happenned to look down at the hitch and found the pin to the Lock n Roll hitch that latches the trailer to it was hanging half out the spring pin had been knocked out somewhere along the way. About halfway up we had to stop at a particularly sticky spot and air the tires down along with cutting a tree out of the way to make it through. After this when I would go over some of the bigger bumps the hitch would hit so I'm thinking this is what did it.
We got to test about every piece of equipment we had on the truck ( a winch is on the wish list) We tested everything on the camper which all worked perfect (other than the previously mentioned short comings) I was tested also, the last time I did any offroading that was kinda serious was in Colorado and Death Valley. I did ok but we deffinately discovered areas in which we need improvements.

The rest of this is a massive picture dump.

Glad you had fun Casper! We had a blast!
Our trip continued until this afternoon, we actually wound up in the Spruce Knob area of West Virginia and spent another couple of days enjoying camping and good food. Once I've gone though the few pictures I took I'll add a few

Looks like you're getting it pretty figured out! And obligatory "GO HOKIES!" is in order. Sister goes down to start her last year there tomorrow.

Thanks it’s easier for me to get on the website this way. I need to try and figure out what you were describing about how to tell which is the correct height to get. Looking at tires also I figure get the tires on since they’ll be a touch taller then see which hitch to order either a shorter drop or just strait. I told they guy at the camper dealer what I was trying to do and have the camper just a touch high in the front when hooked up. He said normally he’d like to see it level but just like you said with my added tongue weight it would work fine.

I could just get bigger tires on the truck that would raise it up lol

Nope we camped just below the top of fpk. When we left we went down Briery Branch and out it was a hell of a lot easier but not near the adventure. Until I got a few miles from the house and got caught in basically a tornado that wasn’t fun. No power when I reached the house and it had obviously gone out earlier because I lost all the meat in my big freezer
